Default Waxoyl Underseal Paint..

Is it any good?? its the black gunky stuff you get in the tin, does it do the job well as this can be painted sraight over surface rust.

Or can stone guard be applied over rust? in which case is this the better option?

cheers dan

I would paint i on as the spray gunks up every few seconds, you are supposed to leave the tin in hot water for half an hour to melt it down. If you do get the spray one stick the tin in the oven for half an hour to thin it right down, does stink a bit though.

cheers guys for the replies

i was going to use the stuff in the tin, as iv used it before. Surely if its slightly thicker then it wont go everywhere and will give you a thicker coat??

i was going to do the underside about 2-3 times anyway, to make sure i have a good seal.

When you buy the five litre tin(like an oil can), buy the spray gun too....its like a spray lid off kitchen cleaner bottle with a long hose. To get the gun to work the waxoyl needs to be thin. You do this by standing the tin a red hot water in an old washing up bowl or bucket. Every few minutes ya need to shake the tin. As said above the stuff gunks the gun up so it stop working....easy to solve. Leave the tin stood in the bucket of hot water and move it round with ya.....just need the car high enough!

Make sure you either remove or mask the exhaust!

Lee..

I would treat the rust befor coating over the top, because once its sealed over it might look fine from the outside but its still rusting underneath, if u
know what i mean
