Default Breitling watches ...........

Been to look at a Breitling 6.75 watch this weekend , just a bit unsure about it being too flashy.

I like nice watches, I have not got a breitling. I have heard they are good quality, are they a good investment ?

Anyone suggest anything else ?

too flashy for what? its only flashy if you flash it around and even then is only to somebody who knows their watches. My dad likes his watches and he has said they are mine one day so i borrow them from time to time when going out somewhere nice, the last warning i got was loose it and its worth more than your car! Lol

Let me explain, I meant it's just a bit too bling... My mate bought one, and while we were in the middle east, it looked fine. But back in the UK, he looked like P-Diddly or some shit. All sparkly, like someone had emptied a bucket of glitter all over his arm

ahh well all depends on how it suits you, big watches big people can wear yet i personally look like a fag with a rolex as its like wearing a wheel on my arm. All depends on the person in my opinion.

Also as far as i know bar a very few Rolex's no watches are good for a short term investment unless you get it cheap enough.

If your looking for an investment maybe try and get a secondhand Daytona.

99.99% of the population just see a watch........

People who know money, know a decent watch. RSFido, I know what you mean. I have a Omega Seamaster, which is just right. Although, I never wear the fucking thing. It just sits in it's box. Spend the rest of the year with a Ł100 Casio G-Shock on my wrist I had a nice TAG, but got pissed out my skull one night and lost it Gold watches though, make me look like I'm gay as fuck

The look of a watch is all down to personal preference. If you like it, buy it.. Personally I think it looks way to bling....

Omega and tag for me. The seamaster gets worn as an everyday watch, afterall it is for telling the time.. Still looks as good as the day I bought it

cut a long story short, Lad paid me the 10k in cash, i put 5k into saving account . Had 5k cash spare & I had already decided I was going to buy a new watch.

Still wearing my scruffy adidas tracky & t shirt, I entered a certain high street jewellers (higher end of the scale). When I asked to look at an omega seamaster the guy serving virtually laughed me out of the shop

He just left the watch in the counter just pointed to the price tag & said we have serious buyers for that type of watch.

I stood for a second totally embarrassed that he was treating me like a fool, that was until his (I am guessing who was the boss man here spied that I was wearing a Rolex GMT MASTER II already) the bos man soon pushed the other man out of the way.

The attitude suddenley changed from me being the scum of the earth to being the most important customer.

I got free champagne & a private viewing room made available & the full shoot.

Never bought the watch from them , I purchased a limited edition seamaster from a small jewellers 2 weeks later.

It happens ............

I know a guy who took 45k in cash in a carrier bag to a certain BMW dealership in 1985 to order an Alpina B9 (i think).

The salesman told him to "don't touch what you can't afford"

He promptly went to Sytners & ordered his car ...........

He drove back to the aformetioned Bmw dealership later with the new Alpina weeks later, the sales man who has fucked him off was stood on the forcourt.

He said the sales guy was fucking choking ..........

Never judge a book by it's cover, too true.my mother was selling her house two and half years ago for Ł335000 which is pretty strong money for a 3bed semi in Swansea, too strong we thought by about 20 odd grand.anyway, loads of audi driving types turn up wearings suits and waffling about extensions, knocking through etc.two weeks went by and loads of interest but nothing concrete when my old girl feels ill and asks me to show some "sisters" around on a Sunday morning.two old lezzers turn up in a fucked up c reg camper van wearing clothes that I wouldn't use as rags, spend 10 minutes in the place only asking for access to the loft and a torch.me and the missus sit outside in the garden right pissed off we'd wasted an hour on a sunny Sunday showing these timewasters around.maximum of 15 mins in total later she comes out to the garden, offers Ł325000 and to compete in 6 weeks, job done!!!I'll never judge one again.stunning watch btw, wish I could afford one, should be the only item of jewellery on any man and a wedding ring if applicable,my opinion of course.

I had the same I really wanted the bond one

Like you, never wore it much as its too nice to fuck up. I bought it to wear at sea as a decent chrono rotating bezel watch to do Speed/distance calcs etc as well as being a bit bling but in the end i just kept wearing the Ł100 seiko with a better calibrated bezel on it. Plus the seiko would get scratched to fuck and that would be a shame for a expensive watch to go the same way!

I have the Breitling Chrono Colt which is a superb watch. It is the right size for my wrist but it does attract a lot of attention because it is very shiny. Most guys at work have metal strapped watches but are more of an brushed alloy/matt appearance where as mine is almost chrome!

I am very wary of scuffing it too. If you are seriously interested in one, I can put you in touch with the retailer where I got mine. The UK is the most expensive for them I have found on my travels last year above France, US, Australia and Singapore.

Stunning watch though

Rolex Daytona is next on the list......

My old man collects watches along with pens and classic motor bikes. He told me that if anyone knows anything about watches they will say that an omega is the best watch to buy. I love the breitlings can't afford one but my wife bought me a Tag for my wedding gift when i got marrried last year which was nice!

The above post about the bmw dealer has happened to a mate of mine wanted to buy the 320d m sport brand new basiclly one dealer told him to fuck off as he was not over 31 so went to another dealer and paid 32 grand cash for it.

cheers,
Phil

Reminds of the story about the tramp that walked into Bristol cars, pulled a sauce pan out of his carrier bag and asked the Boss if he could have a Fighter painted in the same colour. When the boss said "sure", the tramp said somebody would be in to pay for it later that day. Turned out the tramp was an Australian millionaire who liked a laugh!

Beautiful watch, saddly out of my budget so I'll have to stick my Casio G-Shock. It tells the time and looks ok so I'm happy.

Seriously though I like IWC's. Nice, simple, not flashy etc. But, I don't wearing watches. Customers come in all the time and show me their watches and I can appricate them, but they don't really interest me. Customer came in some weeks ago and had the most hideous watch I have ever seen on and I said to my boss, "did you see that awful watch he was wearing!" to which my boss said "that was a Rolex Day Date. Worth about Ł40k Was horrendous!

Shame I havent got one Lee but the boss has several. A Pilot Spitfire, a Portofino plain face and my favorite GST Chrono Rattrapante. It's the most fantastic looking, practical watch I've ever seen.

If you want a Breitling then buy one mate , stunning watches !

I traded my Breitling Bentley Motors that I had for a few years for a Model T last year , love it to bits .

I like 6.75s also , I think the back cover diguised as an alloy wheel is a sweet touch
