Default Work not been paying my N.I.contributions

Heard afew people in the workship the other day mention they had issues regarding non payment of national insurance contributions etc so on monday i gathered all my P60's and rang them up to check if i was up to date etc and the lady on the end of the phone tells me theres no record of me being employed by the place i work for since may 2005 since i ended being self employed.

As you can imagin i was pretty shocked by this i told the lady i have P60's here stating whats been deducted for N.I so where the hell's all that money gone in that time??? anyway i took photocopies of the last 5 years and sent them so i can be brought upto date!

Im not along apprently pretty much everyone has this issue with there national insurance contributions

Also tax office tell me the place im working for doesnt exist!! they trade under a different name! the business name that has appeared on all my P60's is NOT what they trade under!!

Has anyone had any issues like this with there places of work??

Christ, thats not good at all, I wouldnt be surprised if you end up liable all the way back to 2005, which could be thousands

Get down the local tax office, they tend to be more useful in person than down the phone I have found.

N.I is in two parts, employer contribution and employee contribution, depending on how your self employment status is structured you could be liable for BOTH parts potentially!

tbh i think you'll be fine the tax office will investigate your the innocent party if the companies not been paying the tax/N.I but deducting it and writing fake p60s the tax man will nail them to the wall ive seen it done before and its fraud and carries a prison sentance

just be open with the tax man and explain what u thinks happened

If they haven't paid N.I and have deducted it from you, they won't have paid Income tax but will still have deducted it from you.

Best start looking for a new job, the company will be going bust soon to avoid paying their debt to Revenue and Customs.

Hang on though if they don't exist as a company or business they can't go bust.

At my last job, they were paying my NI to the wrong account number for nearly 2 years !

A simple call to the tax office and a few weeks later all sorted

As long as you have all the paper work and it seems you do, you will be ok

i have sent them copies of all my p60's for the last 5 years that matters so hopefully i can get things sorted and get my account up to date!

Mistakes can happen but for pretty much everyone to have this problem with there N.I has sent alarm bells ringing!!!

I also called up the inland revenue and enquired about my tax and again theres no record of payment since 2005 and again works name on my p60 dosent exist

That's really strange, cos I think that HMRC actually send in the P60 forms each year, unless your work has got fake copies of them?

he's put in the end of his first parragraph that he's paid upto 2005 when he stopped being self employed, so i gather they took him on the book's.

but like already said not good but with all your paperwork in order you'll soon be noted as the innocent party
