Toyo T1R -or- Hankook Ventus V12
Any one on here had first hand experience with these two tires on an ST170 or similar?
Planning a Euro road trip with a few stops at circuits/the alps this summer and Im probably gonna be needing some fresh tread to last the trip

had loads of tires on my focus, yoki parada spec 2. good in the dry shit in wet wear out quick, nankan sport. Budget tire average all round. Goodyear eagles very good tire in wet and dry but i killed them in 8k lol expensive. Now on my second set of toyo t1r's my favourite tire for performance and all round comprise of budget wear grip and road noise. Never had hankooks so can't judge them.

I've used both T1R and T1S and Hancook Ventus V12 EVO K110, on fwd, rwd, 4wd, from basic 90bhp fwd to 450+ rwd.
A choice between toyo and hancook, trust me if you had ever tried hancook, you'd never ever think of toyo again, the "S" version was massively better than the "R" version toyo anyway, also used F1 gsd3(never again, except maybe a wheelbarrow), rainspoort 1/2 vastly better all round than toyo and f1, vredestein sportrac 3 are also worth considering, much better than F1.
As already said best tyre I have used to date, I am very interested in tyre reviews and will change make very year if something better comes along.
One of the massive good things about the V12's is the stability, they are just so utterly stable even on bumpy/crappy surfaces.
A recent/ish test is Sepang between the V12's and dedicated(dry) track tyres saw the V12's lose out by around 1 1/2 sec a lap in the dry , and again by a similar amount in the wet with dedicated wet track tyres, odd thing was though it wore out 3 sets of dry tyres 2 sets of wets and was still LEGAL to drive on the tyres, as in not worn out, though I'm not aware of precisely how much tread was left.
A lot of serious bhp guys in the us are using the V12's on the vettes, right after purchase taking off the purpose designed goodyears supercar tyres, after driving others so equppied with V12, and saying things like better in every respect, some of these on 1000+ bhp rwd.
My v12's have done around 4,000 miles now, but don't look like it, I expect at least another 8-10,000 based on what I can see at the mo.

depends wot you want from a tyre and wot driving conditions you want them for i got yokahama s01 s drive on my car 195/45/16 stretch on 8 j escort cosworth wheels on front for grip in dry prob wont drive it in wet low
i've not tried the toyo t1r's but my friend has them on his escort cosworth and hates them, soft side walls and wear out stupidly quick acording to him.
i've got a 2l focus zetec mk1 with 16's. did have falken fk452's on which are a damn good tyre but i've just bought some new wheels for daily use so i've fitted them with hankook ventus s1 evo as couldnt get the v12's at competative price and got very similar reviews on all the review sites.
i've actually fitted 205/55/16 instead of 205/50/16 as the s1's dont seem availible in standard size aswell as 55's bein cheaper and more cofortable on the road and better pot hole damage protection.
my rating after being on for a week. fooking excelent in all conditions. they're banded and ultra stable and can be fitted to either side of the car as non-direcional!!! i absolutely love them!! they feel soft to the touch so will have to see how long they last but all good so far.
only down side for fitting bigger for me has been occational front driver wheel arch scrapage as i refitted it badly and the lip pokes down
go hankooks mate. EVERYWHERE i go they get the best reviews by fay and for me were only £72 a corner fully fitted.

The v12's work perfectly even when cold, unlike certain other tyres I've used where they needed warming up, by low I'm talking 2-3C, the rainsports were lethal, don't affect the V12's, defo a all weather tyre, defo faster in the wet than the F1 was in the dry imo, totally confidence inspiring with ace feel and feedback, I wish they still did the eagle ventura as that was ace, much better imo than the F1, but nothing on the V12's.

Cheers for all the advice guys, It's looking like the Hankooks are getting the best reviews.
Place by me does them for £86 each, fitted and weighted.

Will do, after 32 hard (easy) motorway miles including up to 5 rounderbouts the tyres have remained on the rims
will give an actual review once i get the time to head into Snowdonia

i fancy trying these out next time i change the hankooks that is im very impressed with my f1s they are on the front and i have proxes 4s on the rear but the rear needs to be warmed up more than the fronts to work and then they seen very soft
Having used F1 gsd3, PP, uniroyal, T1S, T1R to name a few, the T1S was vastly better than the r version, but I change brands all the time haven't found anything as good as the hankook, the old yoki A008 was very good, pity they stopped it, but even this wasn't as good.
Naming toyo as opposed to hankook just shows the person doing so hasn't used the hankook's, toyo not even in the same league.
