Engine bay resto, advice please?

series 2 needs a new clutch, so though fuck it ill take engine and box and and do a engine bay resto, but i was going to use aerosol cans, obviously ill rub down prime etc, will i get good shiny finish with mercury grey paint from can?

i used halfords black engine enamel on the block,could do same with the gear box too,there is a few colours avail,it brushes on real nice doesnt leave brush strokes.i didnt bother primeing it just did 2 coates,still looks good a year later.the more time cleanin up parts before paintin the better they wil look.drill with a wire brush works well.my block was total bare metal before paintin,hope this is sum help
although there proberley is people who can get a good finish.

i would say point out all the dimples/holes/spot welds before ya strip it and when ya do smooth the whole lot go to ford or halfords with ya paint code and match the colour up will look nuts, paint block a gloss black, and paint or polish everything else im going to do the same tomorrow if i get time
