how can you tell if an ecu is L6 or L8? i have taken the one
out of my mates car but im not sure how to tell

Easiest and most definate accurate way is to take a pic of the inside and the external case and put it on here.

 

L8 will have no fixing lugs on the sides and will have a white mixture screw
L6 will have the fixing lugs and also a white screw

Like Stu says to be 100% deffo as someone may have removed the lugs post a pic of the internals

Ive seen L8 boards in L6 cases so they fit nice in a 2wd you see.. beware out there.

as above no lugs on the front

and also has the extra board where the chip sits

id say l8 for sure
