flame trap on a fourbie
pmsl im trying to fit the new oil breather, took the red 2 way thingy off but theres no way that black pipe is gonna budge so the only thing to do is remove the flame trap itself
might try and chop it tommorow but theres other wires nearby so knowing my luck i will chop them too lol
i can move the flame trap by pushing it but it feels very stiff
bastid car

Ok.
For now, put the red plastic thing BACK ON and use it as an extension piece so you can pipe onto the top of it with your new pipe.
Dont get stressed over small jobs

Hmm...
The only pictures i have on Photobucket arent going to tell you much, but here they are.....

As you can see, the flametrap spout is quite long and the pipe will have a clip on it also. The bottom of it will also have an oil return pipe going into the sump on yours, so if you want to remove the whole trap, this pipe has to be removed at the sump end first.
I suggest levering at the pipe stub end to rotate the assembly into a better position for access and then removing the clip off your right angled pipe or literally cutting it off. The clip should be just a spring clip so will pull off if your lucky.
Hope this helps Matt.

you wont get that flame trap off, believe me, ive tried!
if your fitting a breather, just push the breather hose over the spout on the flame trap and jubilee clip it.
but you will need to remove the original hoses and the meule valve (red ball ) first

He's got it on part number '2' on that diagram, that part should have been fooked off
with pipe going straight onto flame trap This still would leave oil return to sump
A reply that Stu has'nt read properly

From: Macclesfield - you'll never leave....!
pic 1 : installed with the red bit pulled off the top.

pic 2: removed with the oil return and block connections to the bottom.

pic 3: block with it removed - see where the oil return from your new breather shuold go - into the sump where the old one came from.

and pic 4: with the new breather pipe fitted with a nipple into teh block - this is 1 port of your new breather.
