Default Which house alarm?

Has anyone got a house / burglar alarm at home? If so what would people recommend? After a wireless system for my house but unsure whats good and whats not! Not interested in RedCare or anything, mainly more of a deterent.

Cheers

Always prefer trying to stay away from wireless systems but if it has to be then a scantronic i-on16 is the best one ive fitted and came across for easyness to install/program/use.

if its as a deterrant then pretty much any wireless system will do the job.

you have to remember the average burglary takes less than 5 minutes so even if you had a top of the range burglar alarm connected to a security company, the guards and police still wouldnt arrive in time to catch them.

Wireless is good for rented as you can take it when you move and installation causes little damage. I took the guardtec based system out my house when i sold it so i can fit it in rented accom. Does the trick for what i need.

It is for deterrent really but dont want one thats going to be a pain in the arse and go off every 5 mins for no reason! I've got cameras and want to fit a telescopic security post as i'm away a fair bit soon with work.

Have heard that the cheaper Honeywell alarms are good value for the money?

paul bammo, rst in progress, his mate sam fits alarms for a living and did a top notch instalation at my house

plus he's from north london sides so might be closer to you thank you think

only took him about 3 horus to do the house and it's got a remote and does the downstairs at night, calls yuour phone if it goes off, keypad entry etc

the one we've got at the other house was fitted proffesionaly and calls the police if it goes off, has 3 remote fobs with it, belled the garage as well, etc, but that came in at the wrong side of £800

as for telescopic posts, i'd recommend the machine mart ones, the bigger variety, they go into the ground about 3 foot, come up about 18 inches or so, but are study enough
