we're needing a new boiler and a few other bits doing, currently got a antique back boiler and a fire that burns white so it's gotta go! details of the work as follows:

drain system
remove all tanks from roof space and airing cupboard
remove hot water cyl in airing cupboard and any unnecessary ancillaries
remove fire place and back boiler from chimney opening and cap off/remove all unnecessary pipework/fitting
supply and fit A rated, 30kw veissmann vitodens 100 condensing combi boiler to cupboard under stairs
run 20 white condense pipe externally to outside drain
run new 22mm gas pipe from meter to new boiler position
run hot and cold pipe work from new boiler to feed all outlets, across 1st floor landing
run 22mm flow and return pipe work from new boiler position and connect existing system on 1st floor
remove existing pipework in hallway and leave legs under floor to feed new radiator position in bathroom at later date
supply and fit new 400x450 rad in 1st floor toilet
supply and fit new 1200x600 double rad in rear bedroom
do all required electrical work
supply and fit wireless room stat
fit trv's supplied by customer
remove and relocate stop tap in kitchen
flush system and add necessary chemicals to protect
remove all waste from site

boiler comes with a 5 yr warranty

quoted £2050.53

it's a family friend quoting the work so is that a good price? seemed a lot at 1st but then theres a fair amount of work there.

would appreciate any input from those in the know or those who has recently had similar work carried out.

the scrappage scheme has ended, all vouchers have been allocated, that isnt a bad price either, not a great fan of those boilers though..i would charge about the same

Looks Damn cheap to me, had similar work but quite a few more rads and a worcester boiler and paid 3.5k, also done by someone i know through the trade so i don't think you'll get it done any cheaper!

 

Yes that's a good price. I've just paid £2500 for a new boiler (system change) without radiators. It's pretty much what your having done but with an old gas boiler not back boiler.

"run 20 white condense pipe externally to outside drain" 20mm? - My mate told me that Worcester Bosch have just told everyone to upgrade their outside drians to 32mm as they were having alot of problems with them freezing up during the cold weather.

 

how true, almost every other callout i had over the winter was frozen condense pipes, not all worcester bosch though, the regulations state that a max of 3m 21mm can be run outside and must be protected against frost, its just as well to use 32mm solvent weld, just looks a bit obtrusive, if not use a condense pump and you can run the pipe internally somewhere without the need for fall on the waste

 

I seen loads of the 21mm solvent weld pipes arent lagged so they freeze up!

5 year ago when I did the energy effiecency course we were told to lag them!!
