Hard to say without driving it, but it sounds like LSD problem, maybe clutch.

HTH Regards Dave

I also would say it's diff related, the diffs don't cope that well with big power especially if you like launching as have weak planet gears, also due to the age now the viscous coupling is probably past it's best and could do with a re-rate. Best thing I done was to ditch my paddle clutch, made for a horrible drive and made pedal heavier, I don't think this is causing your problem though.

Dave,

It does definitely sound like the viscous unit in the LSD, your paddle clutch should be okay with the power your putting thru it, I see this problem a lot on 4x4's with a viscous centre diff in their transfer boxes.

Cheers Dave

as martsmart has stated, the 6 paddle clutches are poop.
They do cope with greater torque than an organic, but they don't last very long at all.
My old saph had an ap6 paddle, and the pads wore down to the rivots in less than 5k miles. have pictures to prove. You can get them repadded but the friction material is too hard and the pad areas are too small to cope with the shock waves when the plate enganges with cover and flywheel, + it beats the shit out of the flywheel face.

my last 6 paddle did 75k miles of road use in 3 years with no issues at 400bhp

the alcons are lighter than a std clutch, and ive run them and over 500bhp

Dave,

There isn't much you can do with a knackered viscous, apart from replace it or....if funds are okay buy an upgrade "clutch plate" type LSD for the cossie diff, which last longer, can be adjusted and can be rebuilt with new clutches when they're buggered.

I'd avoid a s/h viscous they are all usually knacked or don't last long.

As for the paddle clutch, its like any clutch, with naff / animal driving it can be worn out very quickly, but with decent launching technique and no abuse they are fine, as James said.

Cheers Dave

Glad you found problem, I guess it hasen't damaged flywheel? GL5 SAE90 or 75W/90, couple of litres will be ample.

Does your kit include fluid for the VC as well as don't think this is easy job to do.

By the look of the diff picture thats not a viscous diff, ??? Got any better pics showing complete guts?

How many miles has that clutch done ? It's shagged lol, perhaps a multiplate would be better suited for your car?
