Could well be DV, remove and plug hole to check, a broom handle is ideal size, not the whole handle though!!

Sounds promising, it's probably a deteriated plug rather than a dead one of you will notice it more, will show more on boost, depending how bad it is you can always clean the earth electrode in the mean time, not convinced this is causing hunting issue though.
