In all seriousness mate if your car is set up correctly then it will be very economical, you just have to drive steady (off boost) don't forget you get fookall fuel for £30 these days

agree with keith if youre in 30mph zones etc... then it should be OFF boost youre driving it!!

i try to do that with my turbo diesel and that seems to start boosting at tickover

as said above why are you using a cossie as a daily driver if you dont want to be spending a fortune on fuel ?

i use my fiesta everyday and the cossie if i go out on a week night or at weekends etc

it is not the type of car you take the kids to school in especially in a high state of tune

why ya think that all cars MUST use as much petrol as ya can to make em a good car, owning a fast car is about visiting mr patel in the shell garage 3 times a week and then get invites to the staff party

Mate get a T4 then you can drive it very economically as the turbo will never spool up in normal driving

If you have to worry about running cost then you have the wrong car..get a diesel.....shit,just wait till the fooker blows ups, which it will then your get blinding MPG

im not worried about the running costs more not wanting to use excess petrol when its not needed as it causes a chimney effect in the zorst !!!!, then when ya rev it paddy1977's rear wheel gets turned black with soot

Ginge,
The amal valve will drop your maximum available boost pressure. If your not using boost pressure then theres nothing to gain this way.

Your car ran with reasonable fuel efficiency when i tested it so make sure your not doing anything really daft with her like:

A) Brakes binding. (VERY common)

B) Leaving her to warm up for 10mins stationary.(what a fookin waste of juice if you only live 5mins away..roflol)

C) Have a sensor problem. (Unlucky to have one so soon after you were here)

Just a few thoughts pal.

just in case you find some money from somewhere.

Will pay for its self in the long run though.

the brakes are fine tbh , ill check em again though as ive just done the rear pads , its not that bad tbh, not complaining just that its drinks twice as much as my cabrio does ( though it dont cost 10 quid to get to work everyday like it used to )

i know motorway driving is due to my none constant driving as i come off boost and the back on boost back off then back on boost again ( thats fun and i dont mind that tbh

just wondering though would 2 stage boost help, im guessing it wont and the obly difference will be my overtaking will be a no no

ah well better charge the battery on the cabrio and change the tyres then

the cossie is sooo much nicer to drive though and quieter inside too

arrrrgggghhhhhh desisions i have to deal with , cant ya make a conversion that runs on 2 cylinders for everyday driving and then 4 cylinders when ragging it

btw im not knocking closed loop at all just that im trying to get a job next month with a company car and so the cossie will just be a toy again and the cabrio can rot in the garage with all the others

b19bal,

THAT is your problem.... Just once, tomorrow, try to cruise at 70 and see how you go

Remember this saying:
"Drive like a tw@, pay like a tw@"

And as for leaving it ten mins to warm through. 60 seconds then get her moving...
If you left it running long enough you could get 0 MILES to teh gallon, and that would be the cossies fault too would it? Its your job to spend as much time as possible going FORWARDS with the engine running

for the enviorment obviously, not to save petrol money

but if ya do find way to make the car to 50mog at 100 to 120mph then PLEASE pm me and ill be the test engine for it
