as above i have a fiesta 1.25 zetec on a 06 plate newer shape dash ect,how the hell do you get the steering wheel airbag off?

If it is the same as the Escort there are two hex screws in the back of the wheel. You may need to turn the wheel a bit to get a driver in there.

Haynes tell you to disconnect the battery and leave it for 10 minutes for electricity to dissipate but the local garage pointed out that, with the ignition off, the car didn't know if power was still connected anyway.

had a bit play about to find a hex screw and not sure thats right as just seems to be a hole?
no battery on car anyways.

That sounds familiar. The hex driver goes into the hole where it will engage the hex bolt that is a captive part of the airbag.
Unscrew the first, turn the wheel a bit to get to the other, repeat the process, and ease the airbag out of the wheel before disconnecting the cable.

Sorry, but I can't remember the size of driver you need - from memory I think it is about 3-4mm across the flats.

cheers mate sorted cut the f@@k out of what was left of bag ect and seen it just the same as my focus with a bar around that you just push in,still took some effort.

Hi Guys, need sum help. my girl friend as a ford fiesta mk6 zetec, and trying to get the steering wheel off, there are two spring clips at the back where you have to put in a screw driver tried everything and is a nightmare, there must be a knack to this, i have disconnected the battery. any help. Ian
