Default Focus tdci 04 to chip or not to chip??

Hi there

just bought a focus 115ps 04 plate imperial blue tdci, needed a relaible fuel efficient car.

Not for performance but for mpg was thinking of getting it remapped, can you give me any ideas, people to use or not to and anything else really??

It has 62k on the clock and main steeler history and is immaculate, paid 4k for it from a friend which I think was pretty good.

Any general tips, advice etc is appreciated.

Look forward to getting you all better.

Steve

Hi i had a v'hall 2.2dti chipped by MSD it had service history and 76K on clock so i was wary about gettin it done but its turned out to be the best money i have ever spent on the car. it now returns between 49-54MPG on a run and the performance increase was really noticeable torque is great its now on 115k+ and still no hassle.

Cannot recommend MSD enough spot on zero smoke realistic gains unlike cheap alternatives on the market.

Thanks mate, I had a rs turbo 7 years ago and Stu did that for me and it was awesome. I was wondering if anyone did a home service? Save me driving to Blackpool?

If I have to then hey ho but thought I would ask.

What kind of mpg increase would I see?

if you arent bothered about performance and are about mpg then why bother getting it chipped - why not run it on bio fuel (veg) - i have been doing this in my astra for about a year now and its now almost half the price of dieasel and gives almost the same mpg.

The particle filter is what a diesel has instead of a Catalitic convertor. On a petrol model you will have to have a MIL eliminator to get rid of the engine managment light when you fit a de-cat. But on a diesel it is not required. Even if they fitted a straight through pipe in place of your particle filter you do not need to bypass anything, i fear your Ł40 might have been spent on nothing.

Hi msd has a website called evolution chips. They are mobile fitters who can come to your house to do the work. Hope this helps.

You could just knock or drill the centre out of the soot filter and I wouldnt advise running the TDCI engine on bio fuel, it can be problematic to say the least.
