The particle filter is what a diesel has instead of a Catalitic convertor. On a petrol model you will have to have a MIL eliminator to get rid of the engine managment light when you fit a de-cat. But on a diesel it is not required. Even if they fitted a straight through pipe in place of your particle filter you do not need to bypass anything, i fear your £40 might have been spent on nothing.
