i need to change my gearbox in my 1998 1.4 escort, now i have a gearbox from a escort 1.8 turbo diesel i take it this will fit what i need to know is that will my drive shafts fit back in the diesel box and can i leave my 1.4 clutch and thrust bearing there will these work on the diesel box is it just remove my old one and then fit straight in the diesel box is there any things i would have to change i hope not because im skint and hoping that the diesel box will just fit straight in and would it really slow down my car much any answers would be fantastic thanks all..........

The gear span on a diesel box is likely to give a 1.4 petrol problems, be like changing up 2 gears at a time, and may be well overgeared due to slower revving nature of diesels.
