hi all, im not certain what OBD socket my mondeo has, but i want to recode my injectors. Most systems seem to cater for post 2004 diesels. I want a good laptop based system and im happy to pay for it. Autoenginuity look interesting but im not sure if they cover pre 04 diesels, or whether my car is OBD2/EOBD or not.
Any ideas?

its probably put the mil light on at a guess.and running on 3 pots.

 

yep the orange coil light is flashing, slow to start when cold and running slower, still drives ok but far less low down shunt, had an identical mondeo with an identical problem and i dont wanna pay ford specialist an hours labour for 20 mins work. I like these mondeos so im bound to buy them again, and a good system coupled with my laptop means few/if any main dealer visits for me again!

 

the injectors are still shite though,as is the dual mass flywheel. your lucky if the clutch/flywheel get beyond 80000 miles and the injectors are usually shot by 100000.
early ones are starting to get scrapped now when all 4 injectors pack up cos its a 1000-1200 quid job to replace all 4 and program them.

 

my cars done 77k, yeh clutch and flywheel were changed by previous owner. I got 4 recon injectors for Ł190 snd Ł50 to code them. From what i hear the injectors are indeed shite but i still want the system. I got a grand to spend

 

I'd recommend getting getting the injectors tested before spending money on recoding widgets. If the injector(s) are shot a recode will just delay the inevitable. A recode should really only be used when new ones are fitted. Reprogramming old injectors tells the ECU that the injectors are new, and as a result they won't work as effectively as recalibrated ones (where you get a new 16 digit code).

The injectors are the weak point of the car, the DMF issues are no worse than any other DMF equipped car!

EDIT: just re-read your message properly, and you do have 'new injectors' stupid me!!
