I had to take my box off a couple of weeks ago for a quick half day clutch change and noticed the cause of my consistant thrust bearing rumble.
Basically the metal sleeve that it slides up and down had worn and formed v.deep grooves! So the thrust bearing basically has a shite load of play!
Does anyone know if this sleeve is removeable/replaceable? I didn't have any time to inspect or delve further but i want to correct if at some point soon as its not doing my clutch any favours.
Cheers

Older boxes had no sleeve, so the bearing slid on cast aluminum. Later boxes had a steel sleeve on top of that together with a larger bore thrust bearing. The sleeve is available still from Ford.
