I thought that if you ask for a new liscence because you have lost it, it comes back clean??
Its something to do with having to give you a new number or something that clears the record if its spent, please correct me if I'm wrong??

My dad tried that. They changed part of his post code from LN3 to LN8 he though he'd get rid of his points for free but sadly not. I believe after two years you can get it off for free AFAIK.

the reason to take em off though is if ya get nicked speeding and ya have previous speeding convictions the copper is more likly to do ya then let ya off ( hence why i never cary me licence on me
)but ya right once they dont count i dont care ( all clean for me on 5th pf feb too, 9 points ALLLLLLLLLLLL gone
)
wen i got bannded for dangous driving i had to take me test again
i passed my test and waited 9 months before i sent off me test pass hoping i would get points and ban removed
but no it came back with them on i had to pay £40 to get um off
but its well worth it as i gone from 27 points to none and got a clean liecence now

Deano says THREE years if you pay?
Whats the TRUTH!?
I have 8 points for a no insurance from an offence (ie driving 100m with no insurance to fill up and pulled IN the petrol station
) dated 11/8/01 and convicted 31/1/02.
Going by this the 4 years will be up on 11/8 THIS YEAR yea?
But deano says 3 years if you pay, and thats already up if thats right
Im VERY confused

im confused now too BUT In any case steve you will be able to remove your points come 11/8 this yr. it is definately 4 yrs from date of offence in your case as you did not recieve a ban nor were you convicted for a 'serious' offence
ginge i already had 15 points before i got banned
then they gave me another 12 points in my absance aswell as getting banned
all points and bans including dangours reckless and drink driving are on for 4 yrs only
death by driving is on for 10 yrs
i looked into this last yr when i was getting me liecance back
used to count for 3 on for 4 yr but its all changed now
4 yrs thats it

1. Endorsement Guide
Disqualifications, convictions and acceptance of fixed penalties payments in respect of driving offences are notified to DVLA by the courts. The details are entered on to the driver's record and the licence. In addition to paying a fine/fixed penalty the drivers licence will be endorsed with a penalty ranging from 3-11 points or a period of disqualification will be imposed, depending on the seriousness of the offence. Any driver who incurs 12 or more penalty points within a 3-year period faces automatic disqualification under the under "totting -up" system. Information on a driver's entitlement and endorsements are sent to courts and police on request.
Endorsements must remain on a licence for 11 years from date of conviction if the offence is :
drinking/drugs and driving (shown on the licence as DR10, DR20, DR30 and DR80).
causing death by careless driving whilst under the influence of drink/drugs (shown on the licence as CD40,CD50 and CD60).
causing death by careless driving, then failing to provide a specimen for analysis (shown on the licence as CD70).
or 4 years from date of conviction if the offence is as listed below :
reckless/dangerous driving (shown on the licence as DD40,DD60 and DD80),
offences resulting in disqualification.
disqualified from holding a full licence until a driving test has been passed.
or 4 years from the date of offence in all other cases.

that means they count for 3 years, come off after 4, still the same as before, years ago ( when i was 17
) points would be on ya licence for 2 years unless disqualified and then would be on for 3 years
good point about why take em off though
yes you still have 8 points till august!
doesnt matter really cos you still have to declare them for 5yrs anyhow. even if they are off your licence.. and unless you are planning on getting done for speeding 2 before august you wont be getting a ban.

No, Your keeping your 8 points untill 31/01/06 cause you were convicted on 31/01/02
but they dont count after 3 years !!!!!!
they reamain on ya licence but you have not got any points for the totting up thing !!!!!
if ya get 6 more points ya wont get banned !!!!!
My offence was in 07/02
If there only active for 3 years, that means that 07/05 they will be inactive but will still be on my licence.
In 07/06, 4 years after the date of my offence, I will be able to remove them.
