Bit of a stupid question mate

Depends on a massive amount of factors

Just a few

Is the car owned by an old git who rides the clutch for about 3 miles before he / she lets it fully out

Has the car a young boy racer owner who just loves to see the wheels spin at every set of lights

does the owner live on a very steep hill and rides the clutch like and old whore to get of the drive

etc etc

Its like the old question ,,,, how long is a piece of string

its not a stupid question as the majority of focus rs are not owned by those type of people in general there owned by people who no the workings of a clutch so no how to treat them .

There is no definitive answer.
Anywhere between 15000 and 80000 could be possible.

Any car could do 25mpg with one driver and 35mpg with another.

The last 2 company vans I had went from new to 134000 on the original clutches and were both still good.
Does that mean all Peugeot Partner vans will do 134000 on the original clutch.?

All depends on how you drive the car.

True but there must be a general life expectancy for average driving as a guide?

Mines done 45K on original clutch and shows no signs of slipping with circa 300bhp. Others have had theirs go with less miles and power. Oh and my FRS gets thrashed at every opportunity. If your looking at buying one with 40K plus miles, budget for a new clutch within the next 40K. other than that cant help really as it depends on too many factors.

what i was hoping for is that for arguements sake 10 focus rs owners viewed this post and said what miles they had done before clutch renewal then i would have got an average as mine has now done 28,000 miles and a buyers guid said they are ready for new clutches at around the 40 k mark but i was told that one had done 80+ so thats why i was asking a sencible question . im aware of differant driving styles and bhp figs thats why i wanted an average .

ya just dont get what im asking like you have just said your vans did 134,000 on a clutch but if sombody elses did 100,000 then you would have an average figure of 117,000 so if 5 focus owners got 40,000 and 5 owners got 80,000 then on average you would expect to get 60,000 miles out of a focus clutch is it sinking in now what im trying ti figure out

I know exactly what you are asking,,
The question with the impossible answer, same as how long is a piece of string.

If you did get 10 people answer and the average was 55000, it means nothing.
It tells YOU nothing about how much longer your clutch will last, it could be another 5000 or 100000 miles.

Is it sinking in now what I'm trying to say.....................

To give a useful answer you need a useful question.

I only wish I'd read the O.p's "Cossie won't start" or
"Cossie runs backwards" threads before I bothered posting on here.

I'm outta here now ..............

Right i have frs rs and know alot of people with one, all at different miles and different modifications, my one has low miles but my mates is up around the 60 70k mark, not one of them have had any clutch problems. One of the lads has a series modified one running 370 bhp , he had to get a moddified clutch, kept slipping, his miles was up on 60 to 80k but car was getting doged

average for a ford clutch is 50k, paddle clutch will last less time too,,, driving hard will also reduce the life as will being sympathetic will make it last longer,,,, though as said this is a pointless question as there is no real answer,,,, how ever long yours lasts will depend on these factors so,,,,, you need to explain how you use the car to get a idea,,, if you like santapod then i recon yours wont last 20k if you visit a few times a year

my clutch for my impreza should last 30k miles,,, i know a bloke who has fitted 2 in 4k miles and blames the clutch for being shite,,, hes also done a few gearboxes and 4 n/s/r drive shafts, crashed the car 3 times and hes wheels are curbed to fuck...... so its OBV the clutches are just shite or that imprezas are just fucking shite cars all together i guess

its not a question that can have a solid answer, i know of quite a few FRS's that have had a clutch by 40k, i also know of a few with over 60k and 300bhp that havn't had a clutch yet......
