Default a mate in afghan

friend of mine used to be in the raf hes now a civvy working out in afghan for cerco on good tax free money might i add lol

however as a sacrifice he spends only a third of his life at home

he was lucky to be home over xmas and was due to go back friday, he turned uip to bryers norton or werever it is after a 2 hour or so drive to be turned away not ready etc, then told to report back in morning to see if has a flight, if not he has to go home again, so each and every day they have to do this routine

the wrong part about it is each and every night he has to say goodby to his 4 kids, ive watched it happen like this for the last couple years a few times a year, they really nfuck him about something chronic, its not serco etc as its a militry air base

again todsay hes been sent home even though they told him this morning there was a flight so his wife went home, she has just had a call to go pick him up so thats 7 solid hours driving for her today, tonight again he has got to say goodby to his children in the hope that he will actually fly out and not have to put his kids through the heartache

i could never put my family through this its v sad

why doesnt he stay in a local hotel?

Much simpler. Being ex forces he should know that quite often you get fucked for flights.

Most of our guys on boat would say bye and even if boat broke down for a day or two not go home as its better for kids.

hes on good money compared to soldiers out there so sorry but i have limited sympathy!!

For a slightly mad man , Warren speaks a lot of sense, a lot of the time

My thoughts exactly. Especially given the heartache and the distances you describe.

Only thing you've not mentioned is the lengths of delay - staying in a local hotel would work for a couple days, but if he may have to wait for a week or so, then that would make going home more worthwhile I guess.
