Default poorly erst!!

put a few posts on here regarding the non running of my 1990 erst, thought it was a fault with the metering unit, but just been told its a new engine time! gutted, it had a so called bottom end re-build some time ago, but nothing done up top, so, apparantley pistons have broke and no compression, so, if any1 has a new/recon/2nd engine in there bottom draw, please , please feel free to send it my way!!

Bummer i have been there to and it not a nice place, i am taking my engine out to sell later in the year but guess you want one before then, but i would recomend a rebuild rather than a quick fix 2nd hand engine unless you know the engine. You don't want to get another fleabay engine for a few hundered squid mess about fitting it for it to blow in a couple o weeks when for a few quid more you could have an as new engine.

If it was running ok and now your pistons are broken then i'd say you were detonating, once you've rebuilt it make sure you get it setup or you could get more of the same!!
Stock pistons are good for 300bhp in a well mapped engine so they dont just brake for no reason

Id reccomend you strip down the old engine regardless to see what has caused it to fail before blowing more money on a second hand engine which you could damage again as said previously if its not set-up correctly. Having been there before there is one component that I will never ever go without and that is arp big end bolts old one are prone to breaking I've had it happen twice its expensive so for the sake of Ł60 well worth it.

Rebuild is the only way to know 100% that everything is done correctly mate, i've bought a so called rebuilt engine from ebay and it was fucked, the big ends were knocking like crazy!!
