Got a chance to buy so Hi Spec brakes from a 106 for the front of my S2. Was just wondering would they fit if i got some mounting brackets made up for the calipers?

To be fair Micky I think its pot luck with Hi Spec , some have no probs at all and others have loads of grief
Its just a shame there after sales support seems to be the worst ever and thats the worst thing as everyone can have problems but if its delt with and put right nobody minds

seems Hi Spec only ever answer the phone if your buying not complaining

took me 6 weeks to get mine, never had a prob with them though and their still going strong on FF neils fiesta.

as for the hispecs off the 106, i think all you will need to do is buy the escort brackets from hispec.

The problems with lo spec brakes are well documented on many different owners forums.Calipers leaking, pads overhanging the disc's,braided brake hose to short, incorrect caliper mounting brackets, pads having to be filed to fit the calipers, weak bolts used to connect the disc to the bell etc etc.It just does'nt give the impression of well made products, which if malfunction could cost you or someone else their life. You don't seem to read about other brake companys with so bad a reputation. And a proper kit from AP is'nt too much more money than lo spec.Do a search on here or in Google and theres plenty of links to their bad products.Regards,Micky

ps I havent even mentioned the after sales service!!

If you have the money for AP I'd give Martin at Reyland http://reyland.co.uk/or Mike Rainbid at R&B Motorsport http://www.randbmotorsport.co.uk/

If you want a cheaper alternative give Tony in my signature a call 07770 210881 .He has rallyed a mark 3 Escort for many a year,so knows his stuff. He works closely with Compbrake http://www.compbrake.co.uk/index.html

Thats the 3 people I'd be talking too anyhow. All the best,Micky

I'll second that. Top bloke! I phoned him after some springs for my coilovers, and even though he didn't sell them, he asked what the car was to be used for, other parts on the car etc and advised me on spring rates to ask for when I aquired elsewhere.
