Question gearbox + lsd questions.

just a quick couple of questions:

1) will an ib5 gearbox fit into a mk4 escort shell easy enough, mounts etc? I need to fit one cause starter is at rear of new blacktop i'm fitting.

2) will an lsd from ERST fit into ib5 casing? if not, what are options?

any alternatives to above?

I've got an EARLY ib5 on my cvh. it bolts straight up, with the starter on the front. the only thing is you need the changeover year release bearing, cos the std cvh and the std zetec one are useless. one doesn't fit at all and the other "sticks" so the clutch just slips horribly.

The RST LSD goes straight in though.

the mounts bolt straight up on mine, then use the mk4 cradle as std. i dont know however with the starter being on the back sorry.

do all zetecs have the starter at the back then i take it?

If so i should be able to use any zetec box as long as ib5 so it still fits mounts, then put lsd in it.

as i said, mine is an early one with the starter on the front.

the lsd does go straight in, but i'm not sure on the mounts as my starter is on the front, mine just bolted straight in though.

the cvh bolt pattern is same as zetec. cant remember if zetec starters are at front or if they put it at back for blacktops.

cheers

raer starters are fine with zetecs, no good for cvh's.
as for mounts, you need a cradle and mounts from the series two or mk4 escorts as a whole.
as said release bearing needs to be the changed.

cheers dude. i'll need a zetec ib5 gearbox then. or an MTX75 2wd, but that'll be a ball ache with mounting in mk4 and not needed for my power level.
