i did the same sold my escort big turbo 5 years since then i bought a evo 6 a couple of years since and never regreted it 1 bit, ok its jap and its different but until you own a evo you'll never understand it but i doubt i'd go back and had rs cars for 17 years

How can you call an Evo jap crap when it's obviously a good car? What makes it crap compared to the Cosworth?

 

Both nice cars, Evo is obviously "better" but I would probably still have the escos myself, just think they are lovely cars, beyond what they deserve from their relatively meagre performance

 

Hope they gave him some cash his way to...Just read they gave him 4k plus the evo ...not a bad deal really altho in the long run the cossie will hold its money more i think.

Honestly, altho I love escos' I probs would have aswell. Although the 6 is my favourite evo aswell

 

id have the evo me mate sells them fresh off the boat also driven a few back from liverpool for him ,mind you depends on the spec the cossie but if standerd good swap

 

Imo escos's are overpriced,the guy could have the VI for good and a mk1 focus rs for a daily driver,sorted.

i would have the evo an four grand tbh.
he has traded a 15 year old ford escort for a newer, faster more reliable car and got four grand on the side.
also the escorts are beggining to depriciate so i dont imagine hes any worse off with the evo.

 

I done the exact same a few years ago albeit for an evo VII.

Think i made the right decision back then and still think the same today.
The Escos is a stunning looking car but the Evo's drive so much better and so they should, they have some years on the Escort.

He will be able to use that Evo day in day out without issue.

I would have done exactly the same thing I'm afraid. Evo 6 and 4k and with the 4k I'd buy a nice Series 1.

fair enoguh the escort is a motorintg icon and looks the absolute bollocks but it is not better than the evo in anyway apart from how and looks and makes you feel

id want an evo 5 though...think they look better than the 6

 

Would have kept the escos without a shadow of a doubt, even if it meant storing it for a while. Evos are ten a penny although I'm sure they are good cars too.

 

To be honest i think the lad made a good decision, he swapped a nice escort cosworth for a really nice allround Evo 6 and £4000.

Always makes me laugh when people call them 'jap crap' etc, they are absolutely fantastic to drive, in a straight line, round bends, high speed, low speed, brakes are pretty good etc.

I have and will always have a soft spot for the Escort Cosworth but the first time i had a go in one i was majorly disappointed, infact gutted is more suitable as a description of how i felt, my childhood dream had just been shattered, they were nowhere near as good as i thought they were going to be! But they still look fantastic, even now

Evo is nice but the escort is awesome,there loads of evos out there, the escos is a lot more special imo,and how much will that evo be worth in 10years? no were near what the escos will be

 

I've gone from a saff that needed money ploughing into it week after week, to an EVO that I use daily and has never let me down! Handles superb, quicker than my stage 3 saff. I've had loads of fast fords and would love to have an escos but 14k plus on a car that will break down nah I'll stay jap the guy has done the right thing

 

i would have the escos out of them two. it looks fantastic and its a piece of history.
the evo will also be worth £1000 one day, i cant see a escos ever going under £10,000 tbh.
