i absolutly love escort cosworth's with a passion, but after owning a saph cossy and having non stop problem's with it, i think i'd go with the evo and 4k, then take a nice holiday to florida or somewhere where the weather isn't shite 24/7 lol

i would love to own an esc cos, but after the problem's i'v already experienced with cosworth ownership i dont honestly think i could part with 10+k for one

Well the evo is overpriced by around 2-3 grand to start with in my opinion, so if he saw his escos at more than Ł10k-Ł11k then id say its a bad deal he's just done.

I dont understand these people that say he's got a more reliable, faster car and Ł4k in the pocket. For a start i certainly wouldnt say an evo 6 is any more reliable than an escos. And for just Ł2k-Ł3k you could build a car thats more reliable and faster than both of them anyway so that argument is floored.

To be honest whenever i buy a car i always like to think i buy with my head rather than my heart, everytime i've bought a car i've always bought the best car in that price bracket and imo the evo is the better car. I think he done right for sure i would have done the same!

I'm not a huge Escort Cossie fan but that does look very nice.

On the other hand, the Evo is a lot of car for the money, both lovely cars!!

evos are a faster day to day performance car, theres no doubting that, but id have an escos in my garage to care for a cherish any day!

evo's are too easy to drive fast and its boring after a while whereas a cossie is far more fun to hoon around!

I had an Evo 5 a few years ago which was ok, then an Escort Cosworth last year, pretty much just so i could tick it off my cars to own list, which i traded for an evo 8 MRFQ320 earlier this year.

They are all good cars, and nothing will turn heads like the cossie.

If he was looking for something thats a little easier to live with day to day, then he made the right choice, but if it's for a weekend toy etc. then maybe not.

Both the cars are now getting old, and both will have there problems too so all this "the evo is better" is crap tbh .

Most problems i see with the cossie's is caused by human error where people mess about with them and dont do the job correct .

Lol, Jap crap, its definately not! the only problems i have heard of is the rear diffs ALWAYS playing up, Mark sold the cossie due to a few things, one being he cant leave it anywhere and 2 its not a suitable day to day car, so its been sat in his garage not being used whilst he drives around in a bubble shape rover! lol

To be honest.. i saw the escort Cosworth that the guy got rid of for that evo...
and to be honest.. I would of gone with the evo too!

that Escort is back in the MCR listings now... its had a load of paint work, i noticed that as soon as i saw it sounds like hes had a load more issues too...
one to avoid.

reading this has made me laugh, good points from both sides but how many people have actually owned a escoert cos and then a evo.Only good escorts will ever hold good money shitters will always be cheap and the same goes for evo's...I have a evo 6 and have used it daily at one point and only used my escort as a toy and if it ment spending 15-18k on a escort im affraid i'd have to get a newer evo or even scooby every time

I have, sold the Escos for an Evo VII FQ300 and when that got written off i bought a Subaru 22B. Now have an M3 CSL which i am sorry to say has to be the best car i have ever owned.

All are brilliant cars but if you want to use it for more than just the odd weekend then i'm affraid to say the Japs have it sorted.

If your looking for something to keep in the garage, look at and adore, take out a few times during the summer months and not loose you much money then the Escos is the one for you. Anything else then its either Jap or German im affraid.

I ran cossies as daily runners for alot of years when they were newer (back in the early 90's) and they were fine but as these things get older they start to struggle a bit.

I still have a 3 door tucked away in storage but to even think that it could be used as a daily driver nowadays is wayyyy out the question.

As i said earlier in the thread if he wants something to use then he has made the right decision.
If he wants something to look at and make money on then it's the wrong decision.

Wish i could afford to have kept all my cars as id love a garage with the Saffs, 3 Door, Escos, 22B, Evo, and the CSL but reality dictates that aint possible so they get sold on to make way for the next one.

I was truly a Ford/Cosworth nut... I wouldnt even have looked at a Jap car when the Cossies were in their day.

But since I sold the Escos and got an Evo 8, FQ340MR.. I finally realised I had been missing out. The EVO was simply a far superior machine, but that was due to it being a lot newer, with newer technology.

Both cars are simply stunning, but one is more stunning than the other.. It would be unfair to compare the both cars, as it would be like comparing a sega master system to a PS3.

So if you drove a Escort Cosworth then a Evo on the same day your telling me the Escort is better

Each to their own I guess but a Evo is a proper car, the only thing the Escort has is heritage which the Evo's will never have

Thats fair enough but you know what I mean with regards to the amount of Evo's you see about.

I do like to see the rarer models but I still probably see them more than I see Escort Cosworths

i'd more have the escort cosworth over the evo. purely cos it looks better, far rarer. and that fact that i would have it on my list.

i wouldn't get an evo cos. too many about. they always bring out a new model which looks the same. is this a 7 or a 9??? is this a 5 or a 6??? whats the difference in the 7, 8 and 9?? they look the same? crazy money for a car that dosen't seem to change much IMO.

if i was gonna go jap, i'd have a skyline or supra anyday. they may be big and heavy. but what a car. and in a totally different league to the evo's and subarus.

as for reliability. if i had an escort cossie or say an skyline. i'd never really want to drive them as i class them as special motor. if i wanted an everyday reliable car. i'd just use my rs2k or fiesta 1.3 lx.

sorry just my opinion. but then i never liked evo's or subarus. they leave the show room and lose half there value straight away....lol

Think I'd rather have the Cossie, for the "specialness" if you get me...

That Evo (ther later ones are a different case), and forgive me for getting a bit Clarkson with this but, is bit like a flash computer... sure its wonderfully efficient, but it doesnt really get you going.

Quick Reply: My mate just chopped his Escos in for this....
