Default all in 1, printer fax scanner copier

My HP Psc 950 has packed up, will now not scan, everything else works, but thinking it might be cheaper to get a new one rather than a repair ?
Just don't know what to go for make wise, I need the 4 bits above plus it taking the cards from cameras for printing/sending to pc etc.
I'm thinking it might be best to avoid HP ?, as the ink is so bloody expensive, and it doesn't work good enough with pattern ones.
Any help much appreciated as always,
thanks

Reasearch done, the winner is a BROTHER MFC-490CW.
Awsome piece of kit, 3 years warranty, runner up was LEXMARK INTERPRET S405, all the same features, just preffered the larger lcd screen on the Brother for manipulating piccies prior to printing, but Lexmark ace product also, same price, and on sale in Currys, had to mail order mine, Lexmark also 3 years warranty.
I decided this after reading shed loads of reveiws.
Just in case anyone is in the market for a printer etc,

Lightbulb Epson are cheaper

I'm using Epson all-in-one devices ever since. They're cheaper and have higher resolution. Lately I have integrated it my internet faxing service - the scanning part.

I've got a Brother MFC-5840CN, had it for the past couple of years - been absolutely faultless unlike my previous HP all in one that lasted all of 8 months!!!!
