Just out of interest, is the 1.8 CVH engine valve safe if teh cam belt snaps i'vre been told two different storrys buy two mechanics, and I guessed you peeps'll be the folk to ask

autodata manual says no! but some times you might be lucky and get away with it not bending anything

you might be lucky but everyone i know whos snaped a cam belt has always bent a couple of valvs at the least

 

they mostly bend the valves (not allways), but the belt & fitting is so cheap it may be worth trying your luck

 

Hi, from my own experience of actually having one go on my car i would say NO cos the bugger bent 2 valves and as someone else has said they are so easy to change ,a lot easier then removing your head anyway LOL

 

Belt snapped on my old RS1600i doing a ton, bent all eight valves!
