Puma/Focus Zetec Se Engines
I have a 2001 PUMA 1.6 ZETEC SE which needs a new engine and would like to know if the Focus zetec se engine is the same as there dosen`t seem to be any puma engines around? The puma has the engine code L1W whereas most of the focus engines seem to be the code fydb although they look identical. Does anyone know if the focus engine will work please help!!!

Yeh, they will be the same engines. But you might aswell go for the 1.7. Prob cost not much more but will have an extra 20bhp out of the box.

Or you could stick on a decent exhaust and retime the the exhaust cam and make more power

But as the 1.6 doesn't have VCT, the ECU won't know what to do with it. You'll need wiring, ECU, PATS keys etc. Not a simple job.
