Default mk1 escort.!!! please help."!!

Hi guys, my names fast eddy and im currently doing a 1972 mk1 escort. I plan on putting a 2.1 pinto with a quick 4 speed box so want it solid! It needs alot of work and im having trouble finding panels, Im looking for a repair panel for the section at the rear lower corners of the car..., i think their called, rear lower panels, but am not 100%! Does anyone have any information on what my best option is? I also need to know if their is a repair panel for the boot floor on the petrol tank side. Also, does anyone know if it should have reverse lights as this is something doin my nut as im yet to find out, Any information on any new or used parts and panels would be a real treat, thanks all,
fast-eddy-mk1>.!!

Hi
later mk1's had reverse lights not early ones , don't know if you need them for mot as I used tail lights from an early base model on my mk2 these had silver stickers over the space for a bulb hence no reverse lights

Get your self on www.turbosport.co.uk/index.php Passion ford is'int a very good site for pre mk3 escorts......

No you dont need reverse lights, not untill something like 1980 so your fine.

The best place to get panels that are well priced is from hadrians panels, they are pattern parts and have a massive stock and cheap.
For original quality panels as they use alot of fords old presses then you want expressed panels, expensive tho.

i use beevers auto pannels for the bit for my mk1! they are pretty good! as regards to a reverse light i dont have one on mine but im going to use a 'spotlight' style lamp mounted below the boot shut line! im sure you will have seen them on cars already! classic ford mag shows them with the lamps like this all the time!

No car of ANY age needs reversing lights for the mot, or at all.
Hadrian, as in www.carpanels.com would be well worth a look as they buy up the old dies that made the wings when the car was still new.

I just had a quick look at the site and they do a lot of mk1 stuff.

hi the only place that sells mk1 lower rear corners is expressed steel panels.hadrian sells mk2 corners but they are not the same, the section under the fuel tank can be got from hadrian or beevers as these are the same as mk2

Yeah express panels will be the place to try, you dont need a reverse light for the MOT.
Good luck with the project, another Bristol Lad with an Escort ?
