Default What would cause a bad oil leak.....

.......when thrashing a car on track?

The car will not leak at all on the road no matter how much abuse you throw at it

After 20 mins on track my fiesta rs1800 was pissing oil out but now it wont do it at all on the roads etc

Had it at a mates garage on ramps, tried thrashing it etc and looking at it but there is no sign of where its coming from

Could it be the oil getting to hot thats causing it?

no idea

fit an il cooler & see if it stops (the track leak)

not cheap but a worthwhile mod anyway

zetec sumps very rarely leak as the sump has groove cut into it which the gasket sits in.

do you have no indicatino of which area of the engine its coming from ?

If you are running Castrol RS, when hot, this oil expands significantly.
This could be giving you a "false overfill".
The oil only gets to a significant high temperature when the engine is worked hard, and has no real relationship with the coolant temperature.
The excess oil will quite possibly find its way to obstructing the breather system. If this occurs, oil will be forced through all of the oil seals.

Check oil level after 5 laps
Fit an open breather system to a catch tank (1 litre)

Bernie I was about to suggest the same thing...

many oils do the same and then leak out...

my rs2k did that on track if the oil was on the full line of the dip stick.. half a nats cock under it and no leaks at all
