A British success story handed over lock stock and barrel to the germans

Looks like Nico and 'Quick Nick' are in the hotseats with Jenson going to Mclaren

So much for loyalty and taking a hoooge paycut eh. Just shows how right Jenson was to make sure he looked after himself earlier in his career, theres no room for sentiment at this level!

Be interesting to see him vs Hamilton next year but i'm afraid Lewis has his feet too far under the table for it to be an entirely equitous distribution of resources, which is a shame, as personally I think it could be quite close, but I doubt we'll get to see how it pans out.

Awesome news all round if you ask me!!!!

the guys that put their balls and OWN money on the block last year and kept Brawn alive are gonna get well paid...

Jenson gets to REALLY test himself in a british dream team....

I know its very much a 'Lewis' team.... but Button will fight and give it his all.

Exciting news!

It will still be based in Britain and I imagine there will be jobs CREATED and not lost in this country as Brawn massively downscaled last year and got rid of alot of people.

HOPE this happens... still not sure Button will move though.

If I was Mercedes... Fuck Heidfeld!!! I would want Kubica or ideally VETTEL!

+1 to more or less all of that.

will be awesome if Mclaren is an all british team next year, and Im sure that Mclaren will put as much resource as possible into supporting button as well as they can if it happens, I dont beleive that they will pay the sort of money he is asking only to them deliver him a substandard car, I think he will get pretty much fair and equitable treatment alongside hamilton if it happens.

I hate this but +2 to both Chip and Lee,

There is absolutly no way they would pay Button what he will probably get and not 100% fully support him, they stand a chance of a 1/2 in the Champinship next season.

I thik Button will be seen by Whitmarsh as the perfect foil to Lewis, if Lewis's balls out attitude fails to win then Jenson smooth's round and mops up the pieces.

Theoretically I agree with you Porkie thats its great and its great that we have Brits in Mclaren vs the Germans at Mercedes.

Jenson will give it his best shot for sure but i cant help feel he'll be feeling a bit 'unloved' and thats not conducive to getting the best out of him. He's very much like Mansell in that he needs to feel wanted. Who knows, he might feel the pressure less next season and drive like he did in Brazil, after all he has nothing to loose really as everyone would expect Lewis to beat him.

Hmmm, it may be great after all

If someone gave me 8 million quid to drive their car around for them, I would be feeling pretty loved by them

Nope no more jobs as Brawn is iirc now at the correct staffing levels for the future budget cap regulations.

I would like to see Jenson and Lewis in different teams but with the same cars we will find out who is best.

2010 WDC Lewis
2011 WDC Jenson

Next few years is going to be good. The others might as well give up and go home.

I'm happy to see someone pump in the cash they will need to stay at the top. I just hope they stay at the factory in the UK. I'm a bit sad that the colour scheme will go though.... yet another silver car on the grid and boring silver and black tops.... still I got my Brawn hat while they were available, and i suppose its makes the merch even more special Was a darn good season and hats off to them for doing the best job on the grid. I hope they can stay at the top!

Well Rebranding Brawn ... Just like Re-Branding BAR Honda? (Different engine yeah)

I hope Button pisses on that Sell out Hamilton. End of the day, The car wins races not the Jockey. Mclaren 1/2 next year? Mclaren will be happy about that, Drivers WC in a mclaren next year? As long as they grap the constructors first? .. I reckon the Red-Bulls will piss on there Bonfire ..

Quote me on the

reckon the Red-Bulls will piss on there Bonfire ..

Mclaren have been in the game to long to not be winning or atleast at the fore front, people need to remember that there was big changes in rules this year hence the larger than normal disparity between the teams, next year will bring them closer and there are no re-fuelling stops next season either

yes in the last year honda was racing they realised after the 6th round that the car was not up to the job so decided to do a ferrari and develop the car for the year after "the car brawn aquired"

Now the car was sat there with a honda power plant with no more supplied ,so when Brawn got the merc engine deal they had redesign the rear end as the engine sat to high so they added 2 inched to the rear and fitted the deffuser which helped to stable the car and also see brawn in court

Technically the merc powerplant was a handicap to the chassis design, its COG was to high, cooling unoptimized and was was generally a bit of a hatchet job.

However the performance and reliability of the unit more than made up for this.

I rather hope so too, although I hate McLaren, I would fully support both drivers, but would prefer to see JB winning, in my opinion, he was a more deserving Champ.

Yep, I can see that happening too. Vettel and Webber are both good drivers, and as a Team I guess my support is behind them.

Yeah, Look at the Red-Bulls last few Races .. Brazil and the Sand GP's ... Once they got ahead it was like 28 second lead.

The teams will develop a Car to them standards while Red-Bull already have the car.

Gonna be some upset next year with huge Fuel Tanks etc etc ..
