Tips for starting nights, starting tonight at 10. woke up this monrning early had a bike ride and cleaned the car, then back to bed after a zoot.
What the best thing to do in the morining, got straight to bed, or stay up for a while?

Im doing 10to6 monday to friday, and tonight is my first shift. Cheers lads Il be going straight to bed if I can.

 

i used to finish at 6am go the outcake shop on the way home smoke a fat spliff and be in bed for 7 30

 

Thats a VERY good idea! but whats a "outcake shop"?

 

first night arent too bad cos your body isnt used to it yet, 2nd or 3rd night is you start feeling fucked!!

 

I used to work nights. I used to get home at about half seven, grab a quick shower then have a beer or something to chill out before going to bed about half eight.I still remember the postmans face when i answered the door at eight in the morning wearing a dressing gown and holding a bottle of Bud

 

Quick bite to eat, have a piss and get yourself to bed, first day in bed you will probably toss and turn a bit but after the 3rd night you will be well in the 'nightshift mode' and will sleep like a baby. Make sure you get a blackout blind or make the bedroom as dark as possible and use some earplugs if you are a light sleeper.
I've worked night shifts for the last 20 years so know a bit

Im room has always been vary dark so I should be good there, Iv always been a person that can sleep at anytime.

Bed for me at around 6:30am just 2 hrs into 12hr nights for me Already done 2 12hr days and a 2-10 this week, 12hr nights friday as well crap week really but hey it pays the bills. Everyone is different some lads i work with go straight the gym before hitting bed around 9am not for me but like i said everyone is different..

Munkeyboy there is a thread in the Muppet room I think kosman did.After pub snacks I believe it was,and it supposed to be oatcakes
When I worked nights 6,6 I used to be home 10 mins later bathed and then to bed and then up at about 1.It did occur to me as it seemed strange not staying awake for a bit first,but at that time in the morning there is not a lot to do without waking others up.

 

Oh oatcakes, that makes more sence!lol
I was think when i did normal working day, Id get up and hour or so befored work and after work id be wake for a few hours then bed, but I think Il just play it by ear in the morning, see how I feel.

On nights me self, 7 till 7, problem i have is i do nothing all night (mostly cant be arsed) and most nights end up having a kip for a couple of hours during shift, makes it hard to sleep after shift but i go to the gym to tire myself out shower then bed! for 2 weeks solid!! spend most of the shift raking the net.

Dont go straight to bed. Otherwise you wake up early and your then WAITING to go to work which is shit. move your time out 12 hours and your sweet. I do 6 to 6 , i've just got in having a spliff then a few desperados, mw2 then head down about 11ish up again at 4.30 shower,shit, brew then work

 

Well I'm home after my first night shift, had to stay at the works car park for an extra hour, while my thought it be funny to not disconnect the immobiliser!Dont you just love you fords!
