I thought a screamer pipe was for an External wastegate?
anyway, saw this on fleebay and wondered if it can be done without an ex wastegate?

No, the setup I am selling would not fit a T3.

That pipe is what I was running at National Day, so anyone that was there will know what it sounds like. Not sure if anyone has any vids of that.

Is it hard to get one fitted to your original exhaust? does it have to come off the downpipe at a certain point/angle or will the escaping gases from wastegate jus fire straight out nearest hole? i'd immagine it'd go into the exhaust and have a bit of exhaust close to the wastegate to direct it out if u get me? pointless or what? any benefits? sound pretty cool

Itsmeagain, Any idea if its worthwhile or nae? lol wld really jus like it for grin factor, i got std downpipe into a scorpion from downpipe back, so might jus butcher that b4 i get a goose n try it out?

 

Well if chris has got any pics of the end of the downpipe youl see theres probably a trick bit of piping that sticks out of the downpipe and into the turbo exhaust housing to make a "wall" to seperate the wastegate port from the exhaust wheel outlet.

If there was nothing to seperate it, exhaust wheel exhaust gas would be coming out the screamer at idle too and itd be a right old shit sounding row.

Benefits of a screamer are mainly when the main exhaust is restrictive (ie all 3" exhausts over 500bhp etc), and the car is boosting in a way a lot of exhaust gas is exiting thru the wastegate, so the screamer is a seperate pipe for some exhaust gas, which stops the restriction partly or totally.

Depending on turbo spec n power, you might find almost nothing comes out the wastegate at high rpm anyhow, so its not nececerily a perfect solution to a restrictive exhaust on all cars anyhow.

No, itd be pointless (probably!) with regards to power on your car, but regards to noise it WILL work as cars only have a almost totaly closed wastegate when the turbo is PERFECTLY matched and on the limit of flow (ie mega boost), so it needs every bit of exhaust gas going thru the ex housing to keep the turbo spinning at correct speed.
