Martin grafted a Rover nose onto a Honda Fastback once as its the same floor pan and someone took photos of it and it got published it Autocar as a scoop preview of the new Rover Estate

but just 2 others - they were in front and behind to stop any happy snappers - there were 2 teams, the other team did have a proper merc up front

the back rover75"esqe" number plate surrounds ARE actually rover 75 ones that have literally been stuck on - all the rubbing lines around the bumpers etc are literallly drawn on

Saw a prototype rolls a few years back in Shropshire all blacked out and taped in various places. Instantly recognised the lines though from previous models

The disguises at Nissan were a lot less adventurous, just random padding with masking tape all over!!

 

I live about 2 mile from Gaydon, where they build and Road test all the new Aston Martin's. You see some VERY weird and wonderful shaped cars coming out of there

trouble is - with a car that looks like that, it is SO obviosly a prototypre - these boys at least make it look something like other blander stuff so it doesnt stick out like a sore thumb, the other reason they cant just stick bits of passing on etc, is that they do do Vmax tests and high speed stability tests - a bit of mdf stuck on with double sided sticky tape would be no good at just shy of 200mph
