why not weight 1 litre of water ( and seperate the containers weight ) and then times it by 180 then do the same to 10 litres to compare and see if its correct

2.2lb per litre! if ya interested! 1kg

" They weigh more! A Litre of water weighs 1kg, and considering the tank and stand etc, every litre of tank volume probably accounts for 1.3-1.5kg of weight. Tanks are heavy, and need a very stable floor surface. With tanks over 250 litres its worth considering the strength of the floor"

Don't know if displacement - a floating object displaces exactly its own weight in water - works for sunken objects (like rocks or fish!)

if the object is sinking its cause it has displaced more than its own weight

180 litres of water weighs 180 kg as long as it is normal clean water with a specific gravity of 1. there is stuff called heavy water which has an extra Hydogen atom attached H3O - but this is mega mega expensive - i saw it on discovery one night

An object which displaces is own weight exactly may still sink (as it has no bouyancy so may still float but not on the surface)...it will only float on the surface if it displaces less than it's own weight.....

Now just to mature the filter for 3/4weeks and treat the water!! Also goin to add an external filter alonge side the internal so i can have some more fishys in there!

James, you really need to add some kind of life to the tank if you want it to mature properly.

Get something hardy like some Goldfish etc (perhaps about 6 of them). Feed them every couple of days and after 3-4 weeks, you should find that your filters are nicely mature.

If you want any more help, let me know!!
