Well after owning the car for nearly 2 yrs and constant abuse the small ends started to get alittle noisy which was diagnosed when i took it to have the Greys fitted and a custom chip at NMS in Coventry. When i took the sump off i found that the oil pick up pipe was blocked with silicone from the hoses i'd use on the breather system(mainly the oil return from the oil seperator)
so don't use silicone hoses on breather pipes cause the oil eats away at it

Anyways into the garage it goes and out comes the engine
This is what it looked like........

started taking it out and put the bits in seperate box's so i new what went where

I borrowed a crane from my mate which made life alot easyer,my son loved taking it out and thought it was amazing....lol

Here are some pics off the pistons and head,as you can see by the colouring on the valves it was running pretty good fuelling wise ;D The block is abit worn and will need a rebore with new pistons at 0.5 oversize ;D

I have sent the block and head to be rebuilt at an engineering place in Lincoln, the lad who is doing it is called Mike Barret and is very good with cossy's.I'm also adding some new bits to the engine and will put some pics up when i take some photos
;D

Here are some pics of some goodies i have brought over xmas.....
First one is a fresh set of NGK 9's
already have some and still was ok after 1yr and 15000 miles AND i've never had them out to clean them, awesome plug
oh yeah and a set of braided brake lines to go with my new discs

Then i came across this so i had to have it cause the rest of my polished stuff is Spec R

I also needed a new damper so got a bailey one cause i like the way they are with the 3 arms
So with the Damper i got these which are polished stainless steel lifting eyes

Then on Ebay the other week i won these which cost me Ł120
and i think they will look fookin awesome with the rest of the stuff.....

also got a stainless water pipe off ebay

Thats it for now folks and will take some pics of the engine as its getting built up

Hello,
I would like to know how you made your calipers gold.
I'm working on a set of rs2000 calipers and discs for my escort cabrio xr3i. But somehow I can't find heatresistant paint in the colour gold.
Maybe you can tell me how to do it, without losing my nice colour after a few miles hard driving.

Hello mate
i see you are new so welcome to passionford
My calipers are painted in Hammerite smooth finish which comes in a spray as appose to a tin which you paint on.Just make sur you clean them well and do thin coats at a time allowing each coat to dry fully before applying the next one
i've always done the same on all the cars i've owned and its never flaked off.

Oh dear
well just start by taking all the boost hoses off, when they are off it gives you alot more space to see/work with.
Things like the header tank, air filter, coil and battery are also easy to remove and clean around and put back in

just remove bit by bit, make sure you mark the parts (handy when putting the car back together), make some pictures about it (so you can see how everything was fitted), and voila... there you go.
