Default Courtesy Cars...

Generally what are the terms if u crash ur car regarding insurance companies providing courtesy cars??? as they provided me with one for the first week, and then the garage was supposed to provide one whilst the car was being fixed... but the car is now a write off... but surely the whole purpose of an insurance company is to help u if u crash... so surely they should provide a car up until the money comes through from the insurance?? or am i wishfully thinking???

thanks

Wishful thinking here mate...

They need to provide a courtesy car until they decide that the car is a write-off.. or until you get your car back repaired.

Unfortunately, you'll be car-less until you get your money from them.. which could take a while as Insurance Companies are coonts.

I'd say that the best thing to do is to be a pain in the arse with them, call every other day, asking whats happening and when you're getting your pay out as you need to buy a replacement car ASAP etc.

Good luck bud.

Cheers,
Grant

Hmmmm, maybe things are different for different Insurance Companies... but my family and my friends have all had to give theirs back once the car has been declared a total write off.

They wanted to get mine back after they decided it was a write off too. (It wasnt my fault) so i kicked up like fuck till they said i could keep it till i got the pay out!
I explained i worked nights, had no means of other transport to get to work, and as it wasnt my fault that my car was written off i didnt see why i should have to be put out for it.
They even paid the full amount too, and sent the hire bill direct to the other persons insurance cause i flatly refused to pay it myself and then claim it back afterwards, again, using the same theory that it wasnt my fault i was having to hire the car, so why should i have to find the money to pay for it!
