Default Brake pedal travel problem

Hello Gentleman,

I have an issue with brake pedal travel with a tarox 6 pot system. Essentially I am getting flex someplace but cannot find it. Driving the car is normal, but once you hit a couple of corners hard, the pedal will travel an extra 30mm then firm back up again. I have replaced wheel bearings and cannot get any noticeable play when shaking down the front wheels. I drive 2 other cars with identical brake systems and neither of them do this.

This car has had the problem since we brought it over.

Any ideas?

Oh yeah, and thanks for a great resource!!! Not much information available on this side of the pond. I have been working on these things since 1997 and was quite happy to recently find this place!!

First thing to do is seperate each corner by clamping off in turn and trying pedal, this will narrow down the affected area.

Thank you for your response. The thought has passed my mind, only problem there is that the car has hard braided brake lines all the way around. I even considered switching back to the OE Rubber brake lines for testing, but was not able to find any of the old ones in my stash of goodies. I think its time to go take a few hard corners, then limp back to the rack without applying brakes... I could then take pad travel measurements. Could be fun!

Have you new brake fluid, cold it be air in the brake system? It could be master cylinder leaking innside.

Fully flushed with Ate Super Blue. I keep up on it as far as that goes, it has been flushed a few times without any change.

Oki, if you push hard on the pedal when you not driving whit ignition on, does the pedal sink slowly, or does it hold pressure ?

Nice car, more pictures please

Just disconnect each line in turn and plug the pipe with a brake pipe fitting welded up closed.

you are describing "Pad knock off " ,this generally occurs when the flex in the upright/bearing etc..pushes the pistons back in the caliper , i take it you aren't using a floating brake disc/bell combination as this normally reduces what you describe .

I also believe its "pad knock off" but have been unable to find the source of the flex. You are right, no floating parts here. My perplexity here is that I have 2 other cars with the exact same brake setup and neither of them do this at all.

Definitely not exhibiting any characteristics of a failing master cylinder.

It's the run up to SEMA right now and I have not had a chance to work on the Cossie, too busy with a few builds for the show. Talk about a brake setup, I am putting a 15" front and REAR setup on a car right now! As soon as get back, I am going to dig deeper in to this one.

Thanks for your help!

And here is another picture.
