You can chip & pulley them the works ones arent shy they are quick little cars. Works kits are a fortune tho but im sure you will be able to get a kit from some other company

I had one. Awesome wee car. I had a pulley done and it was 210bhp.

You can get them to 260bhp and still be reliable.

GTT do the kits - http://www.gtt.uk.com/packages.asp

I had an alta induction kit on mine and it sounded amazing.

A few pics of mine:

We can do the remaps on them Jay if you get the pulley on there

We've done a couple, some mild, some wild (with lairy cam specs, headwork etc.) - they go pretty well for what they are...

Cheers,

I drove it hard everywhere, and everyday, as Coldo or stevenebm will tell you! Average mpg - 18mpg

Fuel was the reason I sold it. £400 a month sometimes

Worst thing about these IMHO are the seats, not very supportive or comfy

Tell your mate a 170bhp rs turbo showed one a clean pair of heals quite easily- my mate owns one and said it was pretty quick so we had little play. on private land of course

Ace cars, shit tyres

My best mate has a works cooper s ( the sc not turbo one ) and had it from new. The runflats it came with were awful, it was downright dangerous in anything other than a dry road

The same lad also has a suzuki 1200 bandit motorbike and he says it will do about 180mph easy.

If it was a standard Cooper S I'm not surprised to be honest. My wife has a s/c one and it weighs more than my Sapphire. It does have a sunroof but it tips in at 1240kg which i guess is quite a bit more than the RS Turbo? Perhaps even 20% more weight with the same sort of power

My mate has one with the 230+ kit. Rapid little thing. Usual sort of mods as mentioned above:

Induction, Exhaust, Sports Cat, Intercooler, Reduced Supercharger Pulley, GTT remap or similar, change of spark plugs, headwork/cams for the lairier packages and uprated injectors and throttle body. Things tend to get on their limit though when you pushing 260+ think its the inlet side my mate was saying if I'm not mistaken. With about 230-240 though they are quick enough.

I didn't realise they weigh that much tbh but knew it was around the same power, its easier to show him than get all nerdy about power/weight etc anyhow lol

Well they don't do 200mph rod but they certainly ain't pansy. I'd rather drive a cooper s than a shonky old sierra

I currently work for Lohen!

We offer pretty much anything you need for a Mini. There's plenty of bits need doing to them, run flats are shit, standard suspension is crashy and horrid, brakes aren't much better either!

Check out our site if you want more info as everything is on there, and if you ever need bits just call us and ask for Steve!

Pulley change for the Cooper S is a good start, induction kit and a map. Then next stage is exhaust and an Intercooler (as someone mentioned, we do GRS coolers). Then manifold (Janspeed is the best we stock) and Shrick cam as well as some headwork.

We have 2 Cooper S cars one is a turbo'd gen2 car though. Both quick, but the supercharger one is lovely, very quick, full engine spec, polybushed, eibach ARBs KW coilovers Alta end links, the works.

Even though i have my RS and love it, when I'm in the company Mini's I really do think they're awesome cars.

Alright Glenn, how's it going?

I've got a Cooper S now with 198bhp and it would piss on the cossie any day haha, only kidding, it is quick though, it'd probably surprise you!

I agree, brakes are shit, seats are OK but not as good as recaros I suppose. Sport suspension is rock hard without run-flats but handling is superb, unfortunately mine doesn't have an LSD though.

Nick

My mate had a 240bhp Dyno'd one and was a seriosuly inpressive car. He had AP 4 pots, lowered and stripped and it really really was a good all round car.

have had a couple of JCW s and a BBR S, before you go looking for more power better off getting an lsd first otherwise they just spin all the power away (not a problem in summer but for the rest of the year when its damp cold and wet you'll just have wheelspin)

Bet it was fun with 240bhp and some decent brakes.

Yes, even with just under 200bhp it's a bit silly in the wet, it just can't seem to put any power down, it seems worse than a lot of other power front wheel drive cars.

The LSD would make it superb, I don't know why there are cooper s's without them because it was only a £150 option but the best part of a grand if I was to do it now! Probably a girl specced the car!

It lacks the torque of a Turbo so you have to keep it on the boil, but once you get used to that it's great fun.

I've got an S2 RS Turbo as well but it needs restoring. Did the engine and running gear only to realise the body was shot! Will get it done 1 day though!
