Default seeing as i'm reveiwing car mags, redlines turn

i can safely say that i'm glad i hunted out a copy, even though i had to travel 600 odd miles in my search of one and it was a lucky stumble that i found one

but yes, official winner of the "dojj's favourite mag of the current month" award goes to redline issue no 147 *

although, secretly, i think it won because they've bought back the subscription option

It's a very underated mag. It's recently found it's 'focus' in the last few months and there's some really good stuff in there!

i have noticed more and more scantiliy clad ladies in a few publications as of late and, i think others will agree with me, sex tends to sell, although not at the levels of max power etc, it's most definitly started to be more of a risky mag to leave laying around for junior to have a look through (yet another reason that i was forced to stop buying fhm )

the remap thing, as well as explaining the hieroglyphics that accompany the bottom of the dyno sheet, were really well written, simple to understand yet techy enough to fill you in with the details you need to know, rather than being submerged in incomprehensible to everyone but stu and chip technobabble in such a few short words

their "themes" that run through the mag also make it a nice bit of reading material when everything sort of links together as you progress through the mag, but i do also feel that maybe they are starting to run the whole "tuner vs manufacturer" angle a bit too far, but still look forward to how they are going to work in the next version after the giant killers one and thisone, next months rwd vs fwd vs 4wd test looks like the one to be the stand out (but maybe not so much if it's jap tech vs drifting and other stuff as opposed to old school banger tech and cortina's and stuff as it's progressed through the ages, ie "WAS rwd better than fwd when you only HAD rwd?")

The last time i saw redline was in about 1998, and very similar to max power, it had some corsa on the front, on 18" wheels, with TV's for rear lights and the fred perry polo shirt in the drivers seat.

I didn't bother after that, but i think max power picked its game up a little while ago, but admittedly didn't buy a copy, they had a 900hp mustang on the cover.

never be afraid to attempt something at least once

at least you can say you've done it and if you don't like it you don't have to do it again

at least it's not going to work in a shit job because there is nothign else available, the freedom of choice to buy soemthing is yours

It's absolutely nothing like Max/Fast Car - It was a long time ago, but it's a very different mag now...

As for the bagging, that rarely happens, although the current issue is bagged in Tescos for a Tesco only promotion.

Try it, you might like it!
