Default Mountain bike experts,help please

Hope some of the mountainbike experts on here can give me a bit of advice. There's a 2nd hand 2006 Enduro S-works for sale that interests me.It has Fox 36RC2 forks, Fox DHX-5 air shock,XTR brakes, etc etc.Supposed to have very little use by the seller
Heres a link to the spec
http://www.specialized.com/us/en/bc/...3&menuItemId=0

As someone who's very new to the whole mountain bike scene (4 months) it looks like an ideal all rounder to me.All of my riding is around forest single track, both up hill slogs and downhill speed,no big jumps or drops.Would this be a good bike to buy in youre opinion???I'm 5"11and weigh 12.5 stone, just to give you an idea of what strain I may put on the bike!!

Thanks in advance,Micky

Great bikes, check the fork lowers though - they're prone to cracking around the insert the pinch bolts screw into.

This usually happens when the pinch bolts have been overtightened (torque is something like 19 inch pounds, so not even a nip really). If the sides of the axle slot are touching then they've been overtight at some point and have stretched.

Fox's UK importer (MOJO) will send you out some shims to prevent the cracking happening.

Hope this helps!

As said above great bikes and pretty light for a full sus.

I've got a Ht stumpjumper and have been looking at the enduro frames on ebay to build a full sus too.

Good bike. Really depends on price and condition as to how much its worth.

Hi mate, They make great XC bikes, they weight next to nothing, so make long distance ride very easy.
You should get a small hardtail with big travail on the front and get in to hardcore freeriding miss out all that up hill slogging! much more fun!lol

The seller is asking £1,475 for the bike, but I'm sure he can be knocked down from that.Bike looks to be little used as described in the add.Seems to be a well regarded bike from replys on here, plus reviews on various mountainbike site's.Waiting for the seller to arrange a time and place for me to view the bike.If it suits me and the price is ok I think I'll buy it.Thanks,Micky

Hi, I've got a 2006 Enduro Expert which is pretty much the same as the bike you are looking at. They're fantastic bikes, the best bike I;ve ever owned or even ridden, and I've had some pretty tasty mtbs. Things to watch for other that what has already been said would be make sure the shock is not 'stuck down', and either way even if the bike hasn't been ridden much I'd still seen both the forks and shock to mojo for a service as the bike will feel so much better if you do this. Haggle the price down using this as leverage and you'll be onto a winner!
cheers, Joss

Sounds good then. I'd maybe get the shock and forks along to your LOCAL shop ( if theres a decent one, if you dont use them they dissapear! ) for a service and you'll have a very nice bike.

The reason I say to service the shocks is that if they've been sitting with little use the seals wont have seen much oil and they 'may' have dried out and gone brittle/started to crack etc. If so they would fail pretty soon after being used again.
