Default NEW INJECTORS!

In the next couple of weeks im going to order a new set of injectors from Fords for my S2 turbs and was wondering if it will make a difference when starting the car from cold ?. At the moment when i start the car it miss fires for a few seconds then it clears. The other day before i started the car i decided to take out my spark plugs to clean them and could see that they were all wet and smelt of petrol. So im assuming that the injectors are leaking which is one of the reasons why i want to change them and ive notice that it seems to drink alot of fuel. Ok my turbs has been chipped and tuned up. Does any one know if the injectors are easy to fit is it just the matter of un screwing the tops and out they come. Another thing is do i need to replace any other thing around the area where the injector sit. Any advice would be appreciated CHERRS
Just another question can you buy uprated injectors for the S2 TURBS?

changed my injectors on my s2 last year, jobs straight forward enough just put a bit of oil on ya rubber seals when fitting new ones to ensure they seat properly. sounds like you may have a leaky injector but you say all your plugs are wet its highly unlikely all your injectors have failed, is your air flow meter positioned correctly i.e is there a couple of mil free play before you feel resistance when your system is pressureised

Thanks for the advice.you mentioned something about rubber seals will i need to replace them when changing the injectors. So as soon as you unbolt the top nut which is connected to the fuel line will the injector come straight out. Isnt there any washers which ill need to replace.

I think i had had to carefully remove my rubber seals from the old injectors, much easier with a drop of oil, as long as they are not split or damaged they should be fine. After the fuel lines have been disconected from injector you are left with an 8mm bolt that fastens down the injector retaining clamp. Your old ones may be seized in but if your buying new ones dont have to worry about damaging thread. Got my bosch units from andrew page, cost me around 70 quid there are no copper washers to change.

You aren't dependent on Ford for those injectors because they are Bosch items and used in lots of cars.
This also means you don't have to go to Ford to buy them....

You can go to the local Bosch dealer. Probably a lot cheaper then the Ford dealer! (Here in the Netherlands it's a big difference in price)

Bigger ones aren't a solution to anything. Most of the Jetronic injectors have the same flow rate. For example, the 28i V6 engines use the same injectors as the XR3i. They only have a different length but specifications are the same.

The injectors are good for big BHP figures but the rest of the Jetronic system holds you back at some point. That's what I learn't in the past and I will be using standard ERST injectors in my car when it's finished.

Payed 137 euro's for a full set, that would be about 90 quid give or take a few p. Then again you fella's always seem to get the good stuff cheaper over there

Thats what im going to do then i will go to my nearest Bosch dealer which is in Hitchin town centre. I took out one of my injectors today and found it quite easy to remove and put back. I can see that the injector i removed was the original. Does any one know what sort of difference its going to make when i get a new set and when i do ill also get a new set of plugs. Will my car run a bit better once theyve been changed?

Well it should run better! When I wanted to let my injectors get cleaned the guy told me this ultrasonic cleaning process doesn't work well with Jetronic injectors. He also told me that Jetronic injectors are sort or less worn out after 65000 miles.

Best thing to do according to him was go to the Bosch dealer and get new ones. With new ones the spray pattern is ideal again and your engine should start, idle and perform better.

Got my new injectors yesterday from Fords and they were 30pound each including vat. Just finished fitting them today and i also fitted some NGK plugs and now im well chuffed it idles much better and starts up first time and seems more responsive, well worth the money and i also replaced the rocker cover gasket but not the cork type the rubber one from the sierra 1.8 cvh and seems to be fine no leaks
Now that ive got new injectors hopefully it should be a bit better on fuel as the old injectors were leaking causing my car to drink loads of fuel.
