Did you really think it would be any different?

Its the same for all these types of companies, 'We buy any car' 'We buy your house' 'Cash for gold' etc etc.

They are in it to make money, it's what business is all about after all. If people are mug enough to think they will pay full market value, then they get what they deserve.

True. They will 'buy any car', normally for pennies though!

They are in the same line of business as 'Welcome Finance' etc, who charge astronomical interest rates and target their market as the vulnerable low income people that frankly are complete mugs and will go for anything that looks attractive.

theres a reason why these car finance companies offer "no credit checks" etc

If you cant get mainstream finance then you shouldnt have finance!!! You either are too poor or lack skills in basic budgeting. Either way you will learn far more by saving the money up to buy your new car.

A went with somebody to one of these places and they were fine.

The price they quote for is a car in perfect condition so obviously they'll reduce the offer if there is any faults/scratches. Common sense should tell you that.

it never even got to the check the car stage as they changed their quoted price before it even got to that (the car is mint btw)

i was happy to sell the car what was effectivley trade price anyway for a no hassle sale but they could not even honour that, the guy started haggling the price from the second i entered the office, hence why i did not sell and left, the thread was a warning to others "AVOID"!!!

They offered me more for my Fiesta ST than the garage I was getting my next car from by £500, they did however knock off £170 as they said my car had been repaired (thanks Ford cos they didn't tell me that one).

Still got more for it though.

I hate when i see people say that these companies " RIP YOU OFF " They arnt ripping you off

They simply are buying cars at Trade price and selling them at Retail price , Why is that ripping you off ? you DO NOT have to sell it to them

You cant possible rip somone off if they have a choice to sell or not

Its called sub prime. As for Welcome, they're in the process of going tits up, suspended from stock market a few months ago, unable to meet the repayment on their own loan, debts stretching into billions.
As for the mightier than thou attitude of some, saying if you cant get mainstream credit etc, takes the piss.

Where does it say they ripped me off? they never ripped me off but they did waste my time and acted just like a buyer would have done if it was a private sale.

also what also made me laugh he said " we sell the car at auctions ect making a few hundred pounds per car"
i asked as they are part of car craft surely the sister company gets the cream of the crop to sell on at top money, he then says that no cars from them go to the sister company, i find that very hard to believe and would be stupid from both companies point of view.

I had no issue with them making a profit on the car its pretty obvious if they don't make money then why bother my issue is why quote you a value and then contest the value without even accessing the car, also we are not talking a lower price of £100 the price they offered was £500 lower than they quoted me.
Their actual trading practice is totally against what they claim on the tv adverts and website

I never said you did say they rip people off , but it has been said on this thread

As for the price quoted , this will and only can be a guid price

Its the same for me when i buy cars , you offer a price based on what your told about the car , if everything is as you were told then you pay the agreed price , this is very very rearly the case tho as people " forget to mention " the bad points , lol

Now i know they never even looked at your car but again the quote will be a guild price and when you get there the man you see will go into finer detail and ajust acordingly

simple realy , and you can always walk away ( as you did )

Its called sub prime for a reason and the whole sub prime credit industry played a massive part in the recession so its not bollocks slagging them off with a "mightier" attitude!!!

I hold firm by my opinion that if you cant get mainstream credit then you shouldnt have credit. Even people on lowish incomes in a low paid job CAN get mainstream credit if the amount they want to borrow is affordable for thier income.

so therefore by default theres something wrong with your credit history if sub prime is the only option available to you.

Also your a mug to accept most sub prime APR's/cost of credit. Your better off going without and saving.

People need to take responsibility for debt, just because the banks have offered easy credit for people who cant afford it, the people still signed the credit agreement and took the money didnt they?????

The advert alone is enough to make me love that company, i dont think i've laughed so hard before.. it was like i had kidney failiure from the laughing, i didn't want to carry on laughing but i couldn't stop

i bet they went to a carpark cruise scouting for chavs to sing that song. I wouldn't be surprised if our very own cossiebags off passionford sang the song

After my original bad experience i began to wonder, is it really possible to sell your car to the trade for a fair trade price ?

so i widen my hunt for other websites offering the same service, two likely sites come up and i contact both

www.wewillbuyyourcar.com

www.sellcar-uk.com

My car is a ford KA 1.3 style which i bought new in april 2008 FFSH and 16,000 miles.
book trade price is £4000 retail £5000 looking on trader private sales seem to be selling for £4500

online quote from wewillbuyyourcar comes in bang on trade value at £4007 which is a figure i would be happy to sell at.
online quoting system on sellcar does not give me a figure just says to contact the office to get a quote (why bother with the online quote if it does not actually quote )
I tried calling them but did not even manage to get a reply so that ruled them out immediatley.
So i go ahead and accept the offer from wewillbuyyourcar, get a call back this evening to confirm details and arrange a collection date to my convience. had a very interesting chat with the chap too after i pointed out that they should change their name to avoid being tarred with the webuyanycar brush. anyway it turns out that wewill..... was started nearly 2 years previously to webuyanycar and in a perverse khama they get many customers from the adverts placed by their rivals so seems that sometimes it works in your favour that another company copies your idea and name but then pays all the advertising

Very professional service from wewillbuy and the deal is being done on monday, will report back on my experience

As if you even went to them in the first place with the superior low values they place on cars, assuming you did it on line in the first place.
What you are going to give me £1,440 for my cosworth see you in half an hour

people like you make me laugh. i work for webuyanycar.com and its amazing at the number of people who think their car is "mint" and yet when you bring it in it is nothing like what you put on the screen. what you were told about all cars going to auction is exactly what happens, do you think its good business sense to buy cars in and have them sitting around on a forecourt, even if it is our own? no my friend, we buy in volume and sell at small profit margins. i had a customer in todat who was overly critical of his car and i paid him exactly what his quote was in the first place! rant over
