Cologne (Pinto) 2.0 to Essex 3.0
Oh hi guys,
I currently have a 1992 Ford Sapphire 2.0 GL 2.0 8v Carb. I recently recieved an accident damaged 1992 Ford Sapphire 3.0 GLX. Both cars have a manual transmission, both are carburettor models.
I want to swap the motors over. What exactly do I need from the 3.0?
I'm assuming both gearboxes are type 9, so I should just need the bellhousing from the 3.0?
Would I also need the diff and propshaft?
Thanks.

Gear ratios as well as splines are different from V6 to 4 cyl, diff may well be different ratio.
Just keep the two cars till you have swapped all the bits you need to get running.
The essex V6 fitted in SA is vastly better than the cologne imo.
Obviously keep all the V6 engine bits together, the V6 may also have better/bigger brakes, and thicker anti roll bars.

The only problem is :P My Sapphire is my Daily drive, so I can't afford to put everything accross slowly, I'd have to have it done in 48 hours :P
The Sapphire 3.0 GLX Standing out in front has Rear discs, whereas my 2.0 only has rear drums and front discs.
Darnit, I hope this gearbox isn't damaged, seems to shift into reverse without pushing the gearlever in.

Just completely strip the V6 then, so at least you will have all the bits, can always throw the ones/bits you don't need afterwards.
If putting rear discs on, keep the bias valve located near the rear wheels in the brake line.

Thanks Tabetha,
Now I have a different problem though, I put a new battery in, and it wont start, it doesnt even swing, the lights on the clocks go on, and when I turn the key it makes a sort of clicking noise.
The car did start not too long ago though, about 4 days ago.
The only thing disconnected at the front is the radiator.

Duff connection indeed.
The problem was, I cut the ignition wire when I was grinding the front section of the car off.
It started just fine, theres a hole in the exhaust system, but it runs.
