18psi is fine on yellow, with clever mapping you car run 20+psi but your safe with your 18psi for now

HI,

If i was you i would turn it down to 15psi, as the duty cycle (pulse width)opening time of the injector is probably not safe at 18psi, past it s limit of fuelling at top revs flat out, check with the company who supplied the chip, also check most well known tuners such as MAD,stage one using yellows 15psi, to expensive to take a chance;

yah I agree with davidreader5, although Im not an expert, I personally would turn it down, maybe get some greens and a chip (speak to karl norris) he tuned my RS500 to a proven 371 BHP, on standard compression, 25psi, greys, BD10's, verniers, chip, and I had MOT yesterday and CO reading on greys was 2% ! now thats fookin good!

cheers to Hulland Ward Garage, Derbyshire, ( saph cossie owner) for the extra care taken!

Should have said dependant on chip obviously , i have just done a stage 3 conversion on a saph and it was happily running 18psi on yellows when it was stage 1 and the fuelling and injector duration were fine

HI carl,

I8PSI, can't be right on stage one regardless of chip as only
actuator change and chip, for 15psi, as std map sensor 2bar,
what map sensor are you using , why not go to stage 3, 803 green injectors,
3,bar map, chip, and should also change fuel pump, but some tuners dont,
use decent, pref hybrid turbo 25psi,peak.grpa, headgasket and build from there, unless engine in poor condition,

Dave.

should also change fuel pump,
you certainly dont need to change the fuel pump for a stg 3 mate.

Dave,
I agree that a pump change is required on the escos but no way on anything else, the standard pump can supply fuel for nearly 400bhp, to me stage 3 is 310-330

You can expect 250-270 hp depending on chip & upgrades on yellows at 15-18psi, however, Karl Norris has a chip that goes to 22+psi on yellows using a special map that does appx 300hp. He calls it the Stg 1 Plus. Check his website for more info. He has a good reputation on here!

just had my rwd drive saph rolling roaded on sat! was boosting 17 psi fine on the the rollers which produced 285 bhp@ the flywheel and 237@ the wheels! on the road its peaking 20 and holding 19psi due to better air flow as it only had little fans on the rollers! the mixture has been checked twice and theres is no pinking,i'm very impressed by the difference a set up can make! as all the previouse owner had done was thro in a chip a whack the boost up!

That's dangerous unless you know you're not going lean over 16 psi. What chip pray tell?

My car is a stage 1 by Karl Norris

It spikes 26-27psi and drops to 23-24psi held up to 7000rpm,it then drops to 15psi.

This has been done by Karl and was proven to be safe during many top speed runs of 150+mph at bruntingthorpe proving ground for a Performance Ford shoot.
The fueling is perfect through the whole range.

It is all in the mapping of the chip, but this is not a run of the mill Chip by anymeans

Car is running the following
Standard Yellow Injectors
Standard 2Bar MAP sensor
Standard T3 Turbo
-31 actuator
Forge RS500 Intercooler
Karl Norris Custom "Gunship" Stage 1 Chip

Tiff, how do you set the actuator then? As you know i'm in America, so i'll have to order the chip, rather than have it by his shop, like
