Default RS 1600i CAMSHAFT

Hello fellow Ford Freaks...
I Have 3 Camshafts for a CVH 1.6 engine. One of them is from a RS 1600i, The second is from a RS Turbo and the third is unclear.

Now my problem is, which is which? There is not much stamped on the ends.

I would hate to get them mixed up and put hydraulic followers on the RS1600i Cam.

So if i can single out the RS1600i to start with, and find out what the others are i will be happy.

Who can help???

Thanks guy's.
Kremnin.

So not much to the naked eye to tell them apart. Do you know what the aprox Cam lift would be on the RS1600i cam? I can use a dial-gauge to measure cam lift.
This RS1600i is more than a little straining on the nerves.
I'm doing this from scratch. not got anything to go by, not even the RS1600i workshop manual.
Last thing, Warm up regulator. I know that it is fitted on the back of the engine on the RS1600i, but apart from that..where and how... i need some pictures or failing that, the parts!
Thanks.

Measure the lobes with some calipers!

I wouldnt worry too much tho. Plenty of Rsi's have run hydros for years with no problems. The only issue being top end (and I mean the red line here) performance will be slightly down due to the hydraulic action, the gain being no more adjusting and smooth every day driving.

To be honest unless your building a "race" spec engine and plan to take it round to the max then, £600 odd on a set of mechanicals is really not worth it.

Despite what some say, the hydros will not damage the engine. If anything they will help preserve it as there is no risk of the valve timing being out.

No measuring is required to identify the RSi cam. It is simple, it does not have the lobe for the head mounted(carb) fuel pump

Ho shit yes!... so simple... So dumb of me!.... so bloody obvious!
Thanks.

Well like i said. 4 cams, 3 ford one Piper [CVHBP285].
One was in the XR3i head.
One was in a RS Turbo Head.
One was brought as a RS1600i cam
and the last is a Piper CVHBP285.
And before you say that the XR3i cam and the RS Turbo cam are the same, I measured the cam lift on them and the Turbo one has a greater lift!
But thanks for giving me the heads up.

Ford standard N/A and turbo cams are the same. They fitted XR2/3, MFI and EFI cams in the turbo engines.

Yes i thought you might say that, but i have measured the cam lift using a dial gauge and My 1989 XR3i that ran wonderfully with no rattles had less lift than my Std RS Turbo cam.
The figures are.
XR3i = .509
RS Turbo = .603
RS 1600i = .673
This may explain why the early XR3i feels better with a late turbo cam fitted.
I will work out the Valve lift later when i have more time.
