I'm watching it. Not ashamed to admit I had a tear in my eye watching it there.

Think about what the people in the towers must have gone through before they died...and for some of them to actually jump.

watching it now too and thinking of the jumpers wonder what the feeling is like i bet it just can't be explained, my aunt could see the smoke from where she lives in jersey, and had to look after someone for the days the island was shut off.

Think I was about 14 at the time. Some people in the town where I stay were telling me about it after I came out of school...infact it was going round the school late afternoon.

When i got home and saw the towers like that and the footage of the two jets hitting them it was unreal. You can't even begin to imagine what the people in New York must have been thinking. Just total shock I'd imagine.

The whole of the city was unsure at first what was going on, it only really dawned on everyone later that day, then shock and terror began, but as days went on everyone pulled together.
I know this as I was there at the time, just about to go into one of the towers to have breakfast in the revolving restaurant at the top, had it been 10 minutes later I would have been there, still thimk of it now.

it makes you realise how bad the situation must have been inside, to even consider jumping, you would know for sure you had no chance

must have been just horrific, poor poor people

Remember it was near the end of the afternoon and a weegie delivery guy came into our warehouse saying "raa worlds gawn mento maan... somewans flyin planes into raa trade towers in new york"

Didn't believe it until I was driving home and the texts from mates started to come in asking if I'd seen what had happened etc... these CH4 documentaries have been really powerful.

Cheers,
Grant

I'm still watching it (recorded it) and I'm sat here with tears in my eyes. I've seen so much footage of this over the years, but all these "private" camcorder images just amplify so much and make it so much more real. I am honestly shocked, and so moved...

I can't help but think some of the faces of the firefighters seen earlier in the program, as they assemble outside the buildings just after the planes hit - they died in the collapse. Some of the voices on tape - those people died that day.

I brings home just how real and terrifying this event was. But also just how awesome it was. I don't mean "awesome!" in a good way, I mean on a magnitude level. How one of the most famous skylines was changed in less than ten seconds, and as the program title says, how America, but also the world, was changed completely in 102 minutes.

Truly TRULY tragic

The scenes of firefighters calling their families and wives to tell them they are ok. The guy that was 15mins late for work and survived because of it.

Chilling

R.I.P. to all those poor souls and brave men and women that lost their lives.

Yea, seem to remember at the time an expert saying how hot it would have been with the aviation fuel burning at x degrees, remember thinking that sounds fucking hot to me.

Yup, that was the most powerful bit of tonights thing I thought... hearing these people doing their jobs and trying to save the people in the buildings without thought for the potential consequences. But was weird knowing that most/if not all the voices on the radios were probably never heard again.

Cheers,
Grant

I remember a couple of years back the firebrigade videos of inside the foyer of the halls and the fire chiefs wondering what the thud and breaking glass panes above them was and it was the corpses of the jumpers hitting the foyer roof they were standing under!!!

that was from that documentry filmed by them flench filmakers who were brothers, they were doing a film about a rookie fireman in one of the fire houses when planes hit.
they caught everything on film virtually, they were in the foyer when the tower came down

Seemed really surreal watching it, the reactions of people as the second plane hit and the knowing that this was no accident.

Then knowing that the tower would soon collapse but hearing the emergency services telling people to stay put.

I did wonder how many more would have got out if there had been told to just get out asap if they knew what we know now.

What really got me was the scale of the dust clouds and the density, blacking out a city. Seeing people running screaming as they followed and engulfed them.

It changed the world in so many ways.

My wife came though to me during the first break totally white with shock and said that I must watch it with her. By the next break, I too was just speechless!

Can't get my head round to think how awful that day was for those involved. The number of fire engines that the control lady called out was nuts.

As andyt said above regarding the 2 firemen watching the jumper was unreal. A picture that will be ground into thier minds forever.
