Yeah, i wasn't sure if it was a group b car or not. Did make me wonder how an evo could beat it as group b's are awesome.

I think it was one of the earlier/first Quattros, they should have got the 86 version.

regardless of which was fastest, i know which looked the best and the most fun, and it was mk1 escort shaped!

 

Did anyone think the Focus RS looked really at home on that track (for a road car)

The way the FRS looked through the corners and the speed it carried without looking ragged impressed me. That made me want to sell the ST170 and buy a FocusRS.

That mk1 look proper fun in the stigs hands

they should have used an RS200 that would have destroyed the evo. the stig is a legend ace in his f1 days

Gotta say though the mk1 looked the nuts - even cocked it's left right front wheel a couple of times

 

i was well chuffed to see that MK1 on track. it sounded awesome too.

 

Was well impressed how composed the RS looked on track!!!

yeah mate soon as i got a full picture realised it wasnt the short weheel based grp b. they should of put an rs200 against the focus rs

What's the point in pointing a Evo up against a group B car? Remember, the group B rally cars could keep up with the f1 cars of the day!

I think it was a fair comparison, but you have to wonder how well setup the cars were

 

Missed the program, pity. Modern WRC cars are now faster than the old Group B cars (they do not have the same bhp, but the brakes, suspension etc are far superior to the old Grp B cars).

 

I dont believe that for a minute. The RS200 lapped Estoril in 1986 in a time that would have placed it in the top 8 on the grid for that years F1 race.......

 

I thought it was the Lancia car that did this, not the RS200?

i was very suprised that the evo beat the audi,but then after thinking about it, as it've been mentioned it wasnt the proper group b car.

The mk1 was seriously cool and needed to be tarmac spec and not gravel.

I stand corrected. It was Henri Toivonen in 1986 in a Lancia S4, and it would have been 6th on the grid.

Proves my point tho. A group B from 1986 would destroy an up to date roadgoing Evo, no two ways about it.

Was that Mk1 Escort set up for a gravel stage? It seemed to sit to high and roll to much. Lower and stiffened up I reckon it wouldve battered that focus
