Default comp on 300+ cvh

am building a new engine for my escort and was wanting to no what compression would work best. Am still running a 1.6 and i was wanting to run standard comp so id hav little turbo lag.
iv got wossner pistions and steel rods at standard comp, i would think it would be ok to get the pistons skimed down to low the comp what do uses think. am wanting 300+ bhp
thank

if you are going to run in excess of 300bhp then you should get the wossner pistons machine down, they can be machined to 7.5:1 as that is what i had done.

firstly low comp wont give u lag if u spec it right,so use the smallest turbo to achieve the figures
whats the rest of the spec?turbo etc? as u cant ask a question like that and get answers when no-one knows ur spec, and picking a comp ratio because someone told u on the net will never work, spec it right and it will be awesome, mix match of parts and itll be a disaster

thanks ppl,
the spec of the engine will be changing next year as i lik trying new things and always want more power.
The spec this year is
1.6 cvh block bored out to .5 + its being skimmed 6 thou
std crank reground to .25
wossner pistions std comp and steel rods
big valve, ported head
piper t2 cam, will be geting changed to newmans
cosworth management with l8 ecu + pectel bord
ligth blue injectors (400's)
cossy t3 turbo with 360 bearing and 48 exh housing
am wanting to keep the block and head the same and change diffrent thinks lik cam and turbo to get more and more power and see what works best. just wanting a good test bed. i did read that nick from performance ford and jamie at jamsport are runing 9:1 with theres and it goes realy well
thank again

i'd personally run around 7.7-1 and put a roller bearing turbo on something like the gt28rs or 2871 as they spool up really quick, not to sure what a gt25 would be like for making 300hp though or even the new roller bearing t3's that are about to come out that jamie is testing on nick's car are suppopsed to be excellent but all the above are pricey

manifold and down pipe,or just a down pipe if you get one with a t3 exhaust housing on it.
